Texas ASVE registration is exempt from emissions testing. Doesn’t matter what the county requires. It’s not at all surprising your local guy may not know this.

the CEL doesn’t matter as there’s no emissions testing they don’t ever plug in. At least that’s my understanding. They didn’t care mine was on.

Im not sure of the details. I spoke with several knowledgeable ecotec people and they basically said this only happens if you don’t replace them, since they’re torque to yield. Though I think I did, it’s possible I did not replace them when I did my initial build.
