Texas technically requires one on new builds, along with a light/signal somewhere that can notify you when it is active. Sometimes the inspector doesn't check for it though, but its a requirement now.
If your TCM isnt communicating, it may be shorted out. Last year, I accidentally arced the positive post on the fuse block to ground for a tenth of a second. Not sure if it made contact with the TCM directly or just the frame, but it definitely arced in that area. A week later i tried to start...
This. Parking brake tension was my issue. Took a few tries and test drives to get it just right. I could smell the pads burning just going a block or two if they were too tight.
It's based on what it was manufactured as (a 3 wheeled motorcycle/autocycle). You could add 12 wheels and it's still federally classified the same based on the original vin. The 3 wheels allows them to bypass all the other automobile requirements, and most states have introduced legislation to...
Thanks for the write up. This is basically what I did with my install as well. The nut was was a pain in the butt to tighten on the caliper too.
Once I had the sheath installed in the calipers, fastened to the subframe, and routed through the firewall, I pulled the cable out of the sheath, then...
Don't have the cat from the donor, I'm the third owner of Frame #59. Its a NA auto and it was previously registered in Texas in 2020 then went out of state, expired, and I bought it and brought it back to Texas. I'm basically on the re-registration at this point so I need the emissions...
I have an auto, so just throwing it into D or R with it too loose will cause it to roll like it's not even there. For Texas registration, I had to find the sweet spot so that it could still hold with light acceleration.
Yeah it was a great find. Had no problems installing it aside from some issues with trying to wrench down the mounting nut at the caliper. The Solstice caliper has very limited room to get a wrench on the nut, but if I was patient I probably could have done it with a deep socket.
I did have to...
After several headaches with the OEM cobalt cables and some tubing I nicked from scrap at work, I used this brake cable kit instead with my OEM parking brake handle and DF parking brake kit:
330-9371 Parking Brake Cable Kit Fit for Wilwood 110" Long Cables with a 97" Long Sheath, Universal...
This definitely helps, thanks. I do have the MIL light from the P0452 still. I do have the purge solenoid and vent solenoid as well. I have a couple parts coming in the next day or two (parking brake kit, brake lines, etc) and I'll take a better look at everything again this evening.
Thanks for the info @Joebob . I ordered and found a bunch of the components for everything including the evap canister, tubes, etc., but if it can pass without it being active, I'm fine with that and will return them. What did you do about the codes and check engine light though? I had P0443...
Yep that's a goal of mine within the next year or so. Once I get everything fixed up and legal with this, i'll be out and about and getting used to it. I'm a complete novice in autocross but i'm interested. I'll need to upgrade the tires, rear suspension, etc. before taking it seriously.
At...
Good afternoon folks,
I've been lurking here on and off since about 2017, but never committed to my own build due to not really having the time or space. I just purchased frame #59 (2008 2.4L LE5 Auto/NA) this past weekend from a gentleman in Kansas. It was previously built by a gentleman and...
