The engine fired up first try. We let it warm up until the fan came on at 217 degrees.

It was only down about a quart. That is how much we drained during the donor stripping process. It shouldn't be a problem but it is safer to go ahead and fill it up with the proper amount of fluid.

My transmission was shipped from FL (HHR) and was dry. I only ran my engine a total of three or four times each for less than 30 seconds. I then pulled the top off plug from the passenger side at the axle and filled it until it started to come out the plug hole. Then started it again and filled it until it again came out the plug. About 9 quarts.

I think my manual only needed about 1.5 quarts. I didnt fill it running though, but I dont think that matters on a 5 speed.
