V1 Manual transmission cables

Which cable attaches to which connection? On the engine side you have the upper and lower, the upper has what looks like a counterweight. On the shifter side I have the upgraded billet shifter. Also, how do I know if my trans is in neutral? I'm sure these are probably dumb questions.

I guess my question is which cable gets connected to the shifter arm and which gets connected to the shorter side arm.

For me it was opposite sides. But honestly just try whichever first. I messed it up installing the other day and my H pattern was turned 90 degrees lol. Confused me for a second but it was pretty amusing when in figured out what I did

The main shifter lever should be connected to the transmission arm with the counterweight, this is the 1-2, 3-4, 5-R selection. The short arm on the shifter selects the gate - for the gear pairs.
