Is that not something that failed on him? I'm not 100% sure if this is what I'm remembering though.

She's still going strong after years of abuse. Haven't even thought about it until now.

I could be totally wrong or it was someone else that used it maybe. I remembering thinking when it was being discussed that it's not anything more than a flat plate, why would you not make it out of metal.

You could, although not everyone has the tools / time etc. sendcutsend is another option. 3D Printing this costs pennies, virtually no labor, adjustable to fit your preference if you know your way around the software, easily replaceable, and just works.

Mine broke on the arm side and not the pedal side. I think it was lateral stress from a lot of romping that made the plastic fail. I figured it would take quite a bit to affect a 1/4" piece of steel so I used it and wondered why I printed one out of plastic to begin with.

I saw the photo of your printed mount and can see that you printed it with just a few walls. It needs at least 7 walls, 7 top and bottom layers, with 70% infill.

Quick update. Dropped of the hood and side panels to be wrapped last week. I'm taking the car to a race shop to have the alignment done later this week. I'll go with Lonnie's recommendations

Got the taillights wired for flat towing

After I get the hood back and windshield mounted, it'll be time for the state inspection. The inspector I'm going to has signed off on a goblin in the past so I'm hopeful there won't be any hiccups. Still need to find insurance. My state farm agent said no way.

I still need to trim away some of the clutch pedal so it will stop contacting the u joint on the steering shaft.

It's becoming apparent that I'll want some kind of roof on this thing. I like what @KSLunsfo came up with.

I wish I could join y'all for goblinfest this year. Unfortunately I'll be on call at the hospital this weekend. Maybe next year!

did that step. Unfortunately that isn't where the contact is happening. That step allows the pedal to clear the shaft but mine (and presumably Joe's) is hitting the u joint

Followed Lonny's instructions exactly. There are two brown wires in that connector so make sure you splice into the correct one.

Same. It took longer for my soldering iron to heat up than to do the job. I did put Diodes on these DF supplied harness.

Yeah, we just have to dremmel a small cutout to clear the steering joint. I'm sure it would self clearance eventually, but who wants that each time you press the clutch in....

I didn't. Though I do need to put one on my heat exchanger fan wire.

We went for our first real trip together (safety cables not shown but were attached before pulling out). Made it about 5 miles down the road and came to a stop light. Smelled something hot. Both parking brakes were dragging, my guess is due to the powder coating not allowing the mechanism to fully retract. Pulled over and popped the cables out of the calipers.

The rest of the hour-long drive to the alignment shop was uneventful, though I probably checked the mirror 10,000 times.

This pic is just staged bc he wanted to see how it will end up looking. Now it's time to get the side panels rivnutted on. The hood and windshield will have to wait bc I'm still chasing down some pesky air in the brake lines

Has anyone used a p2p comms system in their goblin? I'm concerned about noise fatigue on longer unhelmeted trips and would also like to be able to talk to my passenger without shouting. This little comm box will also allow me to pipe in music to the headsets as well.

I used to use Sena in my motorcycle helmets and it worked great. You may be able to get away with one that’s a little cheaper than the link I provided since you’re going to be right next to each other. Sena has pretty good sound but amazing range…which you won’t need for your passenger.

Edit: I didn’t look at your link. If you can plug a headset into that to talk that would be easy to find a reasonably priced one.
