V1 [GUIDE] F35 to F23 (with LSD) Transmission Swap

WA08TC
Is there any way to get stronger axles? F23, LNF hubs, 2000 Grand Am manual axles currently (passenger long boy) just looking ahead.

The long axle on the passenger side will be the weak link. Using the LSJ/LNF setup with the jackshaft/axle on the passenger side will be stronger. Also, the LNF axles are larger diameter and inherently stronger than all other 'stock' axles - but these are almost impossible to find and are not manufactured any more. If you need bullet proof axles, custom ones with a warranty are the best way to go. Check ZZP to see what axles they carry, they did have some custom ones a while back.

How many people have broken axles? Not talking about losing a boot or breaking a CV because it ran dry and got hot.

I have, and it was the short "ZZP 2.2/2.4 Stage 1" (ie Grand Am?) axle. That being said... prepped drag strip with slicks and a 4000 RPM launch control clutch dump will do that to ya haha

I have too. Might be considered axle abuse, as opposed to use. Accelerating up a hill, catching air over the railroad tracks, wasn't a good idea. Full droop on the suspension puts the axels at maximum angle, throttle winds up the wheel, and the sudden stop after the air can pop an axle out.

I have my original jackshaft for the LNF. Was told have to frankenstein something to get the f23 to work with the LNF hubs via a random intermediate shaft and I think the grand am auto cv for the passenger?

Keep looking. GM made soooo many different combinations of axles over the years +lengths, spline counts, etc. And don't forget to look at SAAB parts, 9-3, as many of those could help get to the right combination. :D

Correct me if I am wrong but it's the spline count on the transmission side that doesn't allow the LNF jackshaft to work? Need to find this mysterious Isuzu J body intermediate shaft I'm hearing about

Did any of you guys had to extend some sensor cable for the gearbox when putting the f23 on a lnf?
Yes the reverse plug.
