V1 #281 Cdot's Canadian 2010 XFE Build

December 2020 I started looking into building a Kit car and quickly realized this was a perfect fit... A bit Go-kart, A bit Warthog from Halo, A bit like an R/C Grass Hopper.

I placed my order on December 30th and found a silver manual coupe with 85000 kms (Around 50000 Miles) on it a few days later.

I would describe it as lightly battered: No big damage but enough scrapes, dings and indents to lower the price. I picked it up for $2200 CAD ($1800 USD) ...A good deal in these parts for the mileage.

Hey I'm in Cambridge and am thinking of getting one. How much did it end up costing for import and registration? Any Idea on how it will be registered?

I received my kit on June 4th and had it driving on July 2nd. I mounted up the stock seats just until my Courbeaus arrived. The Courbeaus make a massive difference visually and are extremely comfortable. I finished up odds and ends throughout July and was registered on August 3rd. I just completed the wrap the last week of August. I used Avery-Dennison Vinyl from Metro Restyling. If you are patient and go slowly i didn't find wrapping the Goblin too hard. To finish off the fenders I used 2K Hot Rod Satin Black. Its sprays very nicely and hardens really nice too. I also added a Bluetooth amp, with a set of waterproof speakers. I took a bazooka tube and removed about 8 inches off the length and strapped it up under the hood above the BCM. It sounds really nice even though these things are not designed to be shortened. I had a fantastic time with the build and can't say enough good things about DF Kit Car. All donor parts lined up perfectly with the kit. I had a specialty vehicle appraiser check out my car and he was blown away with the quality of the design, the materials used and the end product. He has seen many buggies and Exo framed cars welded up by amateurs which are straight up dangerous. He also mentioned that in his 30 years or so of being an appraiser, most Kit Cars change hands 3 or more times and are typically 8-10 years old by the time they hit the road (if they ever do) . He now wants a Goblin. =)

How did you import it? Transport Canada is currently telling me the kit is too complete for import.

Also what part of Canada? I'm on Vancouver Island.
