Looks a lot like the long bolt that supports the steering column in the Cobalt (not needed in the Goblin). Yours looks heavier than that though...Doesn’t appear to be from transmission swap. Everything is secure there. I’m really starting to question if it even belongs to this project. There’s a bucket of spare bolts in my garage from the previous home owner. Wondering if my kids got into it. Unless someone has another suggestion I might just set aside and assume it doesn’t belong. I have no recollection of this bolt honestly. Kids are trying to make me lose my mind I think. Lol
Excellent idea! I’ll do that. I’m really thinking it’s from something else and got thrown on my bench. Kids probably. They’ve been helping. Been racking my brain all day trying to remember but I really don’t remember that coming off the cobalt either. Thank you!I've disassembled several Cobalts, I don't recall seeing a bolt like that. The shaft is too thick. I think from the fine threads it looks SAE not metric. Take it to the bolt department in a store and use their bolt gauge thing or find a nut that fits. If it's SAE you can sleep well, it didn't come off a Cobalt! (I think the bagging attachment on my riding mower used that bolt!)

Seriously, I believe it came off a lawn mower I have. A pivot axle for the belt tension.
Pretty sure that's it. From this videoWas there not a long bolt that went through the steering tilt hinge? It's very possible I'm confusing this with something else I tore apart.
Your memory is correct. sort of? That bolt has a shaft diameter of 6mm, this bolt looks like a shaft dia 3/8" or ~10mm. A metric fastener with a 8-10mm has a huge head, like 17mm. It also has a funky flange head that looks like 1/2" with a big flange.
