V1 Eric's Goblin #450 (2009 T/C donor)

What kind of ground clearance do you guys have on your cars? I'm at about 4" clearance up front which is a full inch lower than the front lips on my other cars and worried about smashing my radiator. Also worried about mounting my 9 lives racing front wing with that ground clearance.

Yep. 4” is about right. Much lower with 2 people in the car. Under very hard braking, I have skid my splitter a couple of times, but I had a good size passenger riding in those instances. A splitter/front wing makes for a good road grater or shovel too :D

Very nice shovel you have. What springs are you running up front? Looks different than what df sent me. Seems like you have a progressive spring? I got linear springs on mine. 400lbs up front and 300lb in rear.

Rttoys
Correct. I changed the spring to 225/475 up front. Which I also use 1” longer shock too, the QA1 DS403. This makes for a much more comfortable street ride. You can jamb these springs on the shock Df sent you, but it’s a pain. I would recommend running stock and upgrade later if feel you need to.

Picked up an amazon light bar for the goblin. Planning on mounting it to the front top of the cage. Also ordered a cheap underglow kit for some night time shenanigans.

Oh, don't mount that before getting your Goblin registered. They will immediately call it a dune buggy!
Haha I just got it registered today actually. No inspection needed didn't even need to get it weighed. Just took my manufacturer certificate and paid sales tax on the invoice and they gave me plates and registration. Washington State is pretty nice sometimes.

Well the goblin drives pretty well and its really fast until the charge pipe pops off. Has anyone dealt with this on their cars? Thinking about just glueing it on lol

G
I haven’t had a problem with charge pipes coming off. Make sure they are seated well and tightened down pretty darn tight.
If it continues as a problem, it needs a bead rolled in the end or a weld beaded added.

Not sure why the charge pipes don't have a bead to begin with. Is your goblin tuned for more boost?

Bead roller is $80 on ebay.

If your pipes pop off under boost it's a good investment - or find someone local who has one - takes about 20 minutes for 2 people to bead both ends of the charge pipes with the one I have in the picture. One person turns the crank, the other firmly guides the pipe through its rotations. Just did @Amack1970 charge pipes this past weekend.

That's a neat tool. I seem to have fixed the charge pipe popping off issue but I'll invest in one if it keeps happening.

Tomorrow im planning on taking the car to autocross, hopefully the car stays together and I can get some good laps in. Had to pick up some arm restraints last minute to meet their safety equipment requirements.

Goblin performed pretty well at autox. Rear grip was excellent no issues with that. Main problem was tons of understeer. Will be adding a front wing which will probably help a lot. No major issues with the car.
