Everything worked the first time

G
Define first time/no trouble shoot. Mine started and drove the first time I started it but I had problems that popped up as I drove it. Mostly loose connection of the individual wire connectors at the fuse box.

I did have the wiring diagrams to check everything that I thought needed to be connected.

I had to hunt down some tail light issues, but some of it was my light choice and some was wiring goof up on my part. Also had a rad fan issue that was an easy fix.

as a “fail safe”, I have wires running through the tunnel in case I needed a wire or 2 due to an oops Or if I want to add a circuit or 2 and want it to be in the wire harness.

My only unforeseen issue in getting up and running was that it wouldn't start without the clutch pedal switch depressed- 100% operator error. Pretty hard to find an issue when everything is working as intended!

The deepest rabbit hole I had to go down to get everything running perfectly was with cruise control. I did everything to troubleshoot except spend time on my multimeter. Took me 15 minutes to find the problem once I bucked up and started chasing stuff down. Turned out to be a simple issue of a switch panel contact not completely soldered, 2 minutes to fix. I didn't tackle that until about a month after I got onto the road, though.

Glad to know I was not the only one to turn the key and get nothing, scratching the head for a few minutes, then remembering the clutch was not depressed. We have so many things running through our heads at that moment, the most obvious gets overlooked……. :D

Mine will be fun. Crate engine with rings that need to be immediately seated at 5500 rpm under load, and a fully handmade body wiring harness. Optimistic, but slightly dreading it.

The vxdiag module/tech2 has been great at least for being able to go in and check/verify that everything electrical appears to be functioning prior. Aside from that things like pressure testing the cooling system, priming the oil pump, ect.
