Houston SCCA Autocross

Had a colleague years ago that went to school w/ Nicky Hayden. Have a couple of autographed items. His success was re-igniting MotoGP passion in the US. Tragic end to his story.

Ugh. Tragic end to him. After it happened, I remembered that I went to motogp in indy in 2010, when NH resigned with factory ducati. We got to walk the pits and I took this picture. Just a cool picture at the time, now it’s just surreal.

I did get Rodger Hayden to sign my paddock pass in 2018 motogp, when they dedicated Hayden hill at cota

Small backstory on that. We went to the Indy mile races that Saturday before GP. NH got on Larry Pegrum’s hypermotard and did a few laps. Once he got off, NH announced his resigning to ducati for GP. That was pretty cool.

Another scorching hot day at autocross. We were fortunate and got to run 1st, then work 2nd session. Which means we got to go home early.

Looks like one of our hometown boys took first place at nationals this weekend.

It’s a whole lot nicer when it’s only 80 outside. It makes the long day a bit more tolerable.

Almost a gaggle today. Bill had a belt malfunction, Tim added his prop valve to the brakes and found out 4 brakes are better than 2 and I ran my normal runs. A LS swapped Porsche stole the show for our division, though . Here’s the layout, and some other pics. Vids soon to come.

Nope, had a family issue come up at the last minute and was unable to make it out.

Not a bad day to be at autocross. it was a little chili (about 50 at go time), so traction could have been better, but overall you can’t ask for a better day in January. My son and DIL, plus a couple of friends joined us and they had a blast riding passenger. Even got my son and DIL to ride with one of our friends in a new corvette. Good times.
