This has been quite possibly one the most rewarding things I've ever accomplished. I got the donor from Copart on March 15, 2022 so about a 2 and a half year build but I took about an eight month break in there when I got fairly frustrated with the build and life things, so in reality a little less than two years.
I am not a mechanic at all. In the past I've done brakes, shocks, alternators, batteries and oil changes but only because I didn't have the money to take to a shop. I have learned so much and bought a bunch of tools along the way. The only thing I had to send out was for the powder coating, but I did consider trying to put two ovens together and bake parts outside. Everything else I accomplished. I think I spent more time online researching how to do things than actually working on the car. Thanks to all in the forums who post and answered all my questions.
Most of the build was done very early in the mornings before I took the kids to school. I bet my neighbors are glad that it's done!
The quality of this kit far exceeded my expectations. From the video's to the organized boxes and bagies it really is exceptional and would recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic projectBesides maybe the solid transmission mount all the pieces fit very well and I can't believe how good it looks, how fun it is, and how affordable it was to build.
Only thing i really have left is to figure out a small transmission leak that I think is either old brake fluid going into the clutch pipe or the clutch pipe is still leaking. I just got an endoscope in the mail!
I also need to figure out how to insure and title it in Texas and then hopefully show it off in some local car shows.
Respectfully,
Justin
