V1 Justin's City Goblin - 08 LS donor

Well my original plan was to buy a SS/SC donor and go stage2/3 with a smaller pulley and many other things. However, I found a great deal on a 08 LS donor with a manual that was local with about 90k miles for $600. The reason being, it ran into a tow hitch and busted the front bumper up. Luckily we won't be needing that!

I did some research before I went to make a deal and I found that there are kits from ZZP to either supercharge OR turbo the 2.2! So it looks like I'll be sticking a turbo on this build and putting it right up there with a SS/TC. I can always put in upgraded rods and pistons later to make up to 350ish HP with the stock block safely.

Here's a couple pictures of the donor.

Just finished painting the tranny and subframe this past week. Went with gloss black enamel for the subframe and aluminum engine enamel for the trans. Finished masking off the motor and it’s ready to be hit with some walnut shells to take off the surface corrosion. Then it’s primer and red enamel! Masked off the valve cover because that’ll be powder coated in a black holographic flake in the coming week or two.

Don't forget the water pump outlet. You'll want to tape that off also. Consider updating the cam chain tensioner while you have it out and before you pain. You have the old style that was prone to issues.

It's going to look great when you get it done!

Thanks for the info! I plugged the outlet with a rubber stop. I haven’t heard of the tensioner problem so I’ll look into that

Most definitely. The harness is the most critical piece of the puzzle, ask away. Also the electrical section has a ton of information, too. It seems like most questions are somewhat the same, so a quick look there may have your questions already answered.

I also watched all of the harness videos first, then went back and took them section by section. I would make notes of what was needed to come out, added or done per video. Then I could check them off as I went.

Pretty close to what I did. I have the harnesss fully thinned out now. There’s a few wires that I’m not sure if I have to remove however. I’m going to look into it and start the organizing process tomorrow

Most of it is pretty easy to thin out. Anything with a yellow connector is airbag. Once you find the abs, it all goes too and some other systems are the same thing. It’s the few that need to stay to keep the engine working and then the tedious job of extending the wires, that get tiring.

And if you are colorblind like me, it adds a new element to the equation. o_O
