V1 LNF ('08) Fusebox & BCM

I'm going through the planning stages for my electrical harness, with some added and needed circuits, and trying to collate the DF video information for wire thinning with the Cobalt wiring diagrams. Checking for the needed and unneeded circuits and which functional box they reside within.

Which leads me to the crux of this post, I'm trying to get an idea of the fusebox internals - PWB and traces - and the BCM - PWB and traces (and internal logic functions) - to determine if they could be combined into a single master unit, probably the BCM. There are many unused relay and fuse slots, most of which could be pinned to accept added relays and fuses (discrete wires may be added to make these connections on the PWB). The big connectors would be rewired and repinned to route the circuits aft to the engine bay to replace the fusebix if this turns out to be feasible.

I've done a search to see if anyone has attempted to try this before in the forum. I recall reading this was mentioned, but it seems like it was quite a long time ago. If anyone recalls this attempt or has a better source of information for this idea, please direct me to it. I know that deviation from the electrical standard is treading into potential 'gremlin' territory, but my background includes electrical engineering and I fully understand this could be a can of worms.

There is one goblin builder who was able to modify the BCM, and eliminate the fusebox. He said it was a lot more work than he originally thought, probably not worth it. There is also quite a few builders who use stand alone engine management, probably a few who kept street legal lights on a basic wiring harness.
