V1 Looking at a Trans

I’m going out to look at a LSD F35 today or tomorrow. Unit is out of the car but the guy says no issues. From the photos I can tell it’s 3.82 g/r, a little dirty and a LSD unit.

Any things I can check with it out of the car to make me feel better?

I can't think of much you can do. Work the shift forks and make sure they move maybe. Look in the axle holes and make sure you don't see all of the way through to confirm LSD.

I believe its the other way around. If you can see all the way through its a quafie diff but if there is a pin obstructing the view through its a standard diff. May pull the plug to check for metal on the magnet.

My old F35 wore out the synchro between 1st and 2nd gear. I couldn't shift into 2nd gear when the engine was above ~4000 rpm. It was a pain to race, but okay for the street. When I went to replace the F35, I couldn't get the axles out.

Checked the drain plug. It was dirty but not anything worse than my donor trans when I pulled it. For $450 I’m taking the gamble.
