V1 LSJ crank pulley

I’m part way through reassembling my LSJ and I feel like I missed something on the crank snout. The main pulley slides all the way down until it touches the block. I’ve been back through all the parts I have left and nothing is standing out as missing but something is definitely wrong….

what did I miss?

Nothing that I’m aware of. 2 sprockets on that end, key way in the shaft, timing cover, pulley. That’s all I did when I put mine back together. What’s the length on your pulley shaft? Maybe it’s shortened for some reason?

I’ll see if I can get a measurement on it.

The only difference I see is the old timing and balance chain sprockets on the crank are thicker than the new ones, however, I can’t see how that would affect it.

Ah that’s the issue. The Cloyes instructions said to reuse the small sprocket or large sprocket, I forget which. The pulley bottoms out on the sprocket and that keeps it’s from hitting the timing cover.
