New here in Texas

Hello All. I have a 2008 LS 5-speed coupe cobalt that I bought brand new with 4 miles on it. The first time I ever opened the hood other than to do its yearly oil change was to replace the Alternator and belt at 347,000, then at 364k the motor developed a loud tick in the upper portion of the motor (assumed it jumped timing) so I found a create motor for $1400 and replaced the motor and clutch. Now the car has 371,046 miles the AC Compressor gave up the ghost and the exhaust manifold it leaking. the car has now been put out to pasture literally. I drive it around the ranch every few weeks to keep it going. but I would like to give the car a new life.
My big question(s) are:
I want to build a Goblin that has a little ground clearance, do they make the AT Goblin anymore? I cant seem to find it on their web site. or can I just add a puck type lift and throw the smallest AT tires on it.
And now that there is a V2 coming out will I be able to get a V1 kit in stages or do I need to get it all at one time? I would hate to start this build then 3 months later I am dead in the water trying to find part to finish the build.

I have a little experience in custom work, I built a 2004 F250 Fummins with a 97 P-pumped 12v out of an Freightliner FL70 mated to a built 47RH trans into the ford NP273

sorry for the long post and thank you for your thoughts and comments.

I don’t believe they offer the A/T anymore but it wouldn’t hurt to send them an email and ask. If DF doesn’t make them anymore I had looked into a Barrien buggy GTX but I think they’re set up for auto trans. In the end we opted for the Goblin which I’m currently still assembling. Good luck :)

No more AT Goblin.

Rear Suspension option is length adjustable coil overs to get you more height in the rear. But you might have trouble getting camber set right on the alignment of you go very high.

Front can be longer coilovers than DF supplies. But I don't think you will have the alignment issues if you keep the extra height reasonable.

You will struggle with tall gearing if you don't keep overall tire diameter similar to stock.

I don't think there is has been a release date of V2 yet.

Thanks Yeah I saw some Videos about the AT but never saw that it was put into production. I don't need a lot of travel as I am not crawing the thing I will leave that to my Bronco. Being a 5-speed I know I will need to keep the tire diameter as small as possible and I am not looking for anything too tall just really trying to keep it at factory Cobalt ride height I could go as low as a MY22 Camaro ride height but anything lower will not make it down my 1/2 mile dirt driveway. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks, if anything maybe I could get those part numbers for the coil overs they used in the AT build video I think he said they were Camaro parts. I will try and contact them.
Hey are you in SATX by the way (noticed your avatar) I am near Guadalupe River State Park.

I also wanted a Goblin AT but they were discontinued. I have gone ahead with my Goblin build with the intention of making mine as close as I can get to an AT.
You can gain an inch or two of front ground clearance by inverting the lower control arms. You can get another inch or two with a higher aspect ratio tire. I'm planning to use a P215/75 R 15 off-road tire. This will work with a manual transmission without causing a lot of clutch slippage.
The Goblin AT moved the radiator to the back, above the engine. I left mine in the front, per the standard Goblin design. This actually helps the weight balance. I'm protecting the radiator with a hefty bumper and skid plate. Like some other builders, I'm using steel tread plate for the passenger compartment floor.
This vehicle won't be a rock climber or Baja 400 racer, but it should be a fun driver around town and down some area 2-tracks. Might also be good in the mud because it's so light.

This sounds like exactly what I want to do. I figure as minor changes as possible to get me down our dirt road, and if I want to slap some street tires on I can flip the suspension around and go low.
Do you have a build log?

Build log is here

I am really close to getting my Goblin inspected for Ohio registration. Maybe two more weeks. It's driveable today. I want to check alignment, mount the front bumper/skid plate, mount a manual windshield wiper, and chase down a few electrical issues. I am going to upgrade the tires after I get it licensed and insured.
