Not sure which Goblin to go with, V1 or V2

So I've been following the goblin for a long time, and i'm finally really close to getting one. I'm not sure which to go with though. With my situation, i'm not going to be able to buy a kit and build one unfortunately. I don't have the means to do so and my local suburb doesn't really allow you to do that type of thing. So my only real option is the secondary market. My hang up is, I like the V1, I've come to like the halo chassis now but i'm a tall guy, 6'3. It seems like that would be a little difficult to get in and out of smoothly. I also personally hate the angle the windshield sits on that version. That gap between the glass and bars has always irritated me. It just makes it look incomplete. Now the V2 solves these issues, the T-top option is amazing, looks like it gives much more room to get in and out, plus it looks really nice. The windshield also sits flat against the front bars and looks so clean, excellent job on that design. The downside is, the V2 becoming available on the secondary market is going take some time. They aren't even being sent out to customers yet. So that could push my time of getting one back a year or two. It also seems like to me that the finished cost of a V2 will be higher. I've seen some videos online of people saying that and looking into donor cars, it seems to check out but who knows just yet. So i'm not really sure what to do.

That said, I'm 6'2" and have a v1 with the race frame. Double door bars on the side, but I can get in and out without issue. Also, if you don't like the windshield, change it to your liking. Some builders have made their own windshield setup, some bend the mounting bracket, some run without a windshield all together. Little bit of creativity and you can make suit your needs.

I'm 6'3" and 280 lbs with the track chassis and standard door bars. Getting in and out takes some gymnastics, but with a steering wheel disconnect it's not that big of a deal. Also, having the right seats and mounts get the headroom needed to meet safety needs - adding halo center bars or a solid roof panel also greatly helps with entry and exit. Also know that people taller than you or I have the track Goblin frame and fit just fine.

Im 6’3 and fit fine with the full frame. I think it makes it easier to get in and out because you can hold onto something. Also the corbeau seats with the df brackets lower to seat so you don’t have to worry about your head hitting the rail as much.
As for windshield you can bend it back it just takes work. I want to do mine soon.

Yeah youre probably right.

And yeah itd probably just take some getting used to, doing it over and over to get a good way of getting in and out. As far as the windshield, id definitely have to modify it, because im pretty sure my state would require it for them to give it a passing grade to be road legal. I am curious if the V2 windshield set up would be able to be configured to work on the V1 models. Im sure someone will probably try it.

Im a bit more than 280 for now lol, but i get your point. I 100% plan on doing a steering wheel disconnect. My thought was that itd probably make it easier getting in and out, plus its an easy security feature. Solid roof panel will also be something id do if i got the halo, the sun coverage would be very beneficial on longer drives, which i plan to do.

Thats one thing im not sure about no matter which route i go, the seats. Theres so many options out there, and most are decent prices. Id hate to get seats that end up not working very well.

I've heard of Goblinfest, I never realized it was basically in my backyard. Its only a couple hours away really. So me and the family will for sure be checking it out this year.

If you go with the V1, make sure it's the extended frame. The lower numbered chassis had an option of standard or extended. I'm 6'2" and don't think I would be comfortable in a standard length.

Most definitely, that's the main thing that got me to stick around was seeing there was an extended frame option. Without that i probably would have been out of luck.

That actually looks great, and the curve in the windshield would push better through the wind instead of acting like a wall. How long have you had it that way? Only asking because the only thing i could see being an issue someday is it eventually cracking with to much stress. Not sure how flimsy the windshield they use is.

I at least haven't heard of any cracking windscreens. Polycarbonate (what these are) is quite resistant to cracking, acrylic would be an entirely different story though.

Also, I have my windscreen raked back such that it's near parallel w/ the bars.

My roof panel is one of my favorite mods.

I adjusted it to 30deg last year. Liked it so added an additional 10deg this winter. I’m not worried as much about it cracking. If it does I’ll replace it. Don’t think it will happen because before I bolted it up I was able to easily bend it further than it currently is

Do you have a thread about how you got it parallel with the bars? I will definitely be wanting to do that or something similar. And a roof panel is 100% being done as well.

Windshield layback to be parallel with the A- pillar bars.

The bottom windshield bracket must be bent into an arc, recontoured on the bottom edge, mount tabs rebent and new mounting holes drilled into the hood.
