V1 Photos of Back of Button Panel

Robinjo
Thanks everyone, got it installed. Here is my schematic, I also posted it in my build log. Just through I would add it here as well incase someone searches for a remedy to this very issue.

No, my diagram is just telling the difference between the two pink wires that should be in the main harness going to the panel. There is one solo pink and another that was knotted with a green wire. They all go to their own wire on the button panel.

So I’m really scratching my head here…line 3 on the sheet I got from DF says yellow goes to pink but then line 5 days pink goes to pink. What am I missing here?

There are two pink wires coming from the main harness in the grouping that goes to the button panel. One was from the Ignition and the other was from the dash. In the videos it mentioned knotting it together with a green wire. The green is the 'return' function from the gauge cluster. The pink was the 'Info' button.
In your picture I only see one pink wire, which means you missed on somewhere. Unless it's hidden in the photo?

It looks like the pink ignition source wire is what is missing. The pink one in the picture looks to be labeled so it is probably the pink harness wire that goes to the yellow button panel harness wire.

Hmmm that’s bizarre because DF did my harness. I can confirm that I only have one pink wire coming from that little bundle, which they labeled as “keyed power”

However, the green and white striped wire is labeled “info and return”….two functions on one wire?

I believe you are right on the pink wire.

There should be two wires from Info/Return. It can't be a dual function on 1 wire for that. I found this on the AllData but I'm not clear on where it goes. I do not see those circuits on any of the BCM or ECM connector views, so maybe someone better at electrical schematics can point in a better direction.

The two DIC switches don't tie back directly to any other module, they simply ground when pushed. The instrument cluster is also considered a module and relays the switch status (or issues commands, I'm not sure which module does what) through Low Speed GMLAN Serial Data.

Basically the DIC switches ground when pressed. The IPC knows this and tells the other modules via "Logic" or data that the switch has been pressed.

I've not dived into this particular issue but I know some of the button panel switches share wires by running different resistors across the switches, so the cluster knows the difference between which buttons are pressed by different resistances measured at the BCM.

The later models use resistors on both cruise control and DIC buttons. Early models use resistors on cruise control only.

So I am coming into this a little late, does anyone have a working dash cluster with pictures of what wires go where? I know I I got lost on the last half of the instructions for the "Late Model Button Panel" diagrams. I am not electrically inclined in the slightest so PLEASE tell me where the wires go in the smallest words possible lol.

I don't have a photo, but I can try and explain it in plain English.

To start, you will need to know how to connect wires.
Here is a good video on how to Solder.
You can also use butt Self Solder Connectors
Or Butt Crimp Connectors

Find the wires coming from the CARs main wiring harness, around the dash, there should be a branch of 7 wires, White, Green-White, Tan, Pink, Black, Gray, and orange with no connectors on the ends

Then take the BUTTON PANEL WIRING HARNESS that was purchased separately from DF. On one side of this harness (we will call it the LEFT side) there are 8 wires WITH OUT connectors, White, Green, Tan, Pink, 2 Blacks, Gray, and Orange. On the other side (Call it Right) are 16 wires with connectors. 2 Pink, 2 Gray, 2 Black, 2 Green, 2 Yellow, 2 White, 2 Orange, and 2 Brown

Start by connecting the CARs main harness to the LEFT SIDE of the BUTTON PANEL harness. You want to connect each color to its matching counterpart. So White to White, Green to Green-White, Tan to Tan, Pink to Pink, Gray to Gray and Orange to Orange. For the 2 Black wire on the CARs harness, connect both of those to the black on the BUTTON PANEL Harness

For the final steps, there are two types of button, Toggle and Momentary. Toggle switches are pushed once to turn on, and once to turn off. Momentary switches are pushed once to turn on and have a spring that turns them off automatically when you let go.

You should be left with16 wires with connectors (the RIGHT side of the BUTTON PANEL harness)
To finalize the installation, you take each pair of wires and to push them onto the two prongs on the back of the corresponding switch. It does not matter if the wire is on the top or bottom prong just as long as the wire color match on the same switch.

2 Pink Wires - TOGGLE SWITCH - Cruise Enabled
2 Gray Wires - MOMENTARY - Cruise Set -
2 Black Wire - MOMENTARY - Cruse Resume +
2 Green Wire - MOMENTARY - Cluster Return
2 Yellow Wires - Momentary - Cluster Information
2 White Wire - TOGGLE - Hazard Lights
2 BROWN Wire - MOMENTARY - Horn
2 Orange Wire - TOGGLE OR MOMENTARY - This is a spare switch that actives the extra purple wire left over in the main harness. If you don't have an added accessory, don't worry about this switch.

Hopefully this make sense. Feel free to DM with with any questions
