So I am coming into this a little late, does anyone have a working dash cluster with pictures of what wires go where? I know I I got lost on the last half of the instructions for the "Late Model Button Panel" diagrams. I am not electrically inclined in the slightest so PLEASE tell me where the wires go in the smallest words possible lol.
I don't have a photo, but I can try and explain it in plain English.
To start, you will need to know how to connect wires.
Here is a good video on how to Solder.
You can also use butt
Self Solder Connectors
Or
Butt Crimp Connectors
Find the wires coming from the CARs main wiring harness, around the dash, there should be a branch of 7 wires, White, Green-White, Tan, Pink, Black, Gray, and orange with no connectors on the ends
Then take the BUTTON PANEL WIRING HARNESS that was purchased separately from DF. On one side of this harness (we will call it the LEFT side) there are 8 wires WITH OUT connectors, White, Green, Tan, Pink, 2 Blacks, Gray, and Orange. On the other side (Call it Right) are 16 wires with connectors. 2 Pink, 2 Gray, 2 Black, 2 Green, 2 Yellow, 2 White, 2 Orange, and 2 Brown
Start by connecting the CARs main harness to the LEFT SIDE of the BUTTON PANEL harness. You want to connect each color to its matching counterpart. So White to White, Green to Green-White, Tan to Tan, Pink to Pink, Gray to Gray and Orange to Orange. For the 2 Black wire on the CARs harness, connect both of those to the black on the BUTTON PANEL Harness
For the final steps, there are two types of button, Toggle and Momentary. Toggle switches are pushed once to turn on, and once to turn off. Momentary switches are pushed once to turn on and have a spring that turns them off automatically when you let go.
You should be left with16 wires with connectors (the RIGHT side of the BUTTON PANEL harness)
To finalize the installation, you take each pair of wires and to push them onto the two prongs on the back of the corresponding switch. It does not matter if the wire is on the top or bottom prong just as long as the wire color match on the same switch.
2 Pink Wires - TOGGLE SWITCH - Cruise Enabled
2 Gray Wires - MOMENTARY - Cruise Set -
2 Black Wire - MOMENTARY - Cruse Resume +
2 Green Wire - MOMENTARY - Cluster Return
2 Yellow Wires - Momentary - Cluster Information
2 White Wire - TOGGLE - Hazard Lights
2 BROWN Wire - MOMENTARY - Horn
2 Orange Wire - TOGGLE OR MOMENTARY - This is a spare switch that actives the extra purple wire left over in the main harness. If you don't have an added accessory, don't worry about this switch.
Hopefully this make sense. Feel free to DM with with any questions
