It doesn't matter end of the day because once you get your TR-54 signed by a cop and turned in, the state still sends out an "inspector". They are the one you worry about really. You can probably find a cop to just sign off on whatever or just have them sign it and check the boxes afterwords for bumper or whatever (this is not legal advice :p). The "inspector" is the crap shoot. Some are strict, some are not.

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have some bumpers i could borrow for my inspection? or maybe some plans so i could have some made?
I have a front and rear bumper in Clarkston that I threw together to make the cops happy for their portion of it. You are welcome to borrow them or hang on to them for the next goblin builder that needs them. They are a little dusty, they have been behind my sand blasting cabinet for a couple of years...

I was never notified for your reply! I appreciate it but I don't think them. I just had the initial police inspection done and the officer said it didn't need them because it sat so low. However, he did fail me because the windshield is plexiglass and I don't have real squirters for the washer fluid.

Knowing what I know now, I would probably 3D print fake squirters for it. Then you can either take my approach (cut identical piece from safety glass) or others approach (cover the whole front uprights in glass, if you're full cage) and be on your way

So when the cop looked at mine he grabbed the windshield and said "is this plexiglass?" I replied "no its polycarbonate, you know...like lexan." And he was good with it. I dont know if that will work for anyone else but I was successful.

I picked up a washer kit off Amazon for $11. I'll install it for the inspections and then get rid of it.

The cop said the state inspector will look for the AS1 engraving, so thats why he failed it. I reached out to mjgrusni and he(?) is going to send me his design.

Yeah.....the SOS put in my frame serial # as my VIN when I went to them after the cop looked at it. She said it was unique # so the state would accept it as a VIN and no inspector needed since it passed the police sign-off. I paid my money and a title showed up two weeks later in the mail. I wasn't trying to skip a step but it worked out.

In reading this thread, it will show you that there is no rhyme or reason for how the state operates. If you don't like the results, go to a different SOS. lol

Nope. No rhyme or reason. Even here, you get all your inspections, everyone signs off on it, finally get your paperwork through the local office, some guy in Austin says yes or no, with or without knowing all the rules and such. Total crapshoot honestly. “We” try to comply as best as possible, but a lot of the time it comes down to once person and however they “feel”.
