V1 Seb's Goblin #454 (2008 SS/TC donor) - Registered

Ark :D
Thanks for the info. That's a great solution for the headlights.

Tires seem to have gone NUTS in price over the last two years. When I bought my tires right before Christmas of 2021, they were $391 for the rear pair ... now they're $615 for the rear pair, same tires, same place.:mad::mad:

Gee, I wonder why? Actually, I said the same about grapes just the other day. Hey!, Let's blame greedy farmers!(NOT!)

Epic weekend started off with operation beef knuckle...

Followed that up with my first legal road test. It really ***** and gits. Didn't push anything to the limits, but really like the way it's feeling already with the half ass alignment and no tuning.

The goblin is officially down for the winter season - I managed to get ~500 miles on it over the couple of nice days we had.
I stripped the stock seats off the sliders/mounts and made some adapter plates (too cheap to buy the planted tech or corbeau ones).

Thanks to @ctuinstra for the CAD file.

After a few hours of seat time, I did not like the position of the steering wheel. When I was forward enough to reach the pedals, the wheel was too close to my chest. I cut ~2" off of the DF supplied tube. After the new seats are in, I'll see if this was enough. If not, I'll probably end up removing the quick disconnect to pick up another ~2" or so.

I also got the footwell cover fit up.

I'm not real happy with the way this is installed currently. The driver side fit was OK, but the passenger side wasn't even close. I kept breaking zip ties trying to pull it into place. I finally got it "close enough", but I'm going to get some of the XL HD zip ties and see if I can do better.

To do's:
  • Finish Footwell Cover
  • Front Hoop w/ Laminated Glass Windscreen
  • Hood
    • Chop
    • Grill
    • Paint
  • 5th Injector/E85 tune
  • Aero
    • Front Splitter
  • Seats
  • 5pt Harness
  • Wheels
Future To do's:
  • Aero
    • Rear Diffuser
  • Custom Engine Cover

You can gain 1-1/2" by drilling new holes for the mount position. Chris_WNC did this here and I copied his method to achieve success on mine after installing the shorty seat mount on the driver's side.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that one before. Good to know there's some more room to gain without ditching the QD if needed.

Double up on your zip ties.

Took a vacation day today to extend the holiday weekend. Decided to start working on my front hoop/windshield.
Got a full stick of 1.5" OD x 0.095" wall cut in half from the metal yard. This gave me enough for 2 attempts incase the I goofed the first one.

Here's my bender. Home built job that uses a Harbor Freight air over hydraulic ram and JD2 model 3 dies.

Got all of the bends finished. Will be coping the ends, fitting it up and welding on Friday if all goes well.

Finished up the day by trimming up the footwell cover and remounting everything.

I'm planning on doing a final scan before I cut out the window frame to make sure I get a good fit against the footwell cover.
Leaning toward using this style of locking seal (Trim-Lok) to hold the glass in, it looks like it's pretty common in boat applications, does anyone have any experience using it?

Made a little progress on the windshield frame this weekend.
My plasma table is too small to do the whole thing in one piece, so I split it into 4.
44218

The inner pieces will get welded together and used as a template to drop off with the glass shop.

Tacked into the front hoop

And a test piece of the gasket I plan on using to hold the windshield in
