Us V1 folks have had the luxury of having most service manual documentation available via Charm.LI. However, their documentation only runs through MY2013, so I figure that doesn't do much for you fancy new donor folks.
However, Lemon Manuals has been launched, and it looks like it's got at least decent documentation for Mk7 GTI years. I pulled the below diagram of ignition coil wiring as an example. This type of info has been invaluable to me in my V1 build as I've trouble...troubleshooted?troubleshot? issues, trying to find the pin to probe on the back of a connector by position or color, or planning upgrades such as tracing and then replacing the fuel pump wiring with a thicker gauge wire. I've also cross referenced parts across different year and model Cobalt donors and often found that parts are more compatible than their part numbers would indicate, as suggested by documentation and proven by experience.
If anyone's on the fence about a build and was intimidated by a lack of documentation on the minutiae of donor details needed to complete a Goblin build, hopefully this helps get you to make that leap and successfully complete one of the most rewarding projects around.
You can pull my LSJ from my cold, dead hands, though.
edit: I can access on my phone right now but no longer on my computer. They've posted they're investigating DNS issues but that Firefox seems to help. Charm.li had its issues in early days as well, but they got those figured out, and I think Lemon Manuals will too.
