V1 Steering shaft issue

I have steering shaft may be too long? Measures 17” I have connection to rack pinion. Won’t connect to power steering colum. i have pic posted.
any help appreciated

Are you able to slide the steering shaft to change its length?

Did you put this outlined part in backwards?

My steering shaft must be seized cause its does not at all. My donor 06 cobalt ss is a rust bucket.

New steering shaft is not expensive. I hope you bought a new one if yours was stuck.

Yup, replaced mine. Problem solved. $41.79 through rock auto.

I’d be embarrassed to tell you how long I spent trying to un seize my steering shaft and fight getting it back in . I didn’t know how cheap they were at the time. I never looked honestly

So cheap that it's not worth the fight.
