Texas Revoking Titles (and how you can help)

On a side note, I would flip your lower front control arms. They are upside down and should have the shock mount at the lower position. this will also lower your ground clearance and make it easier to align.

I thought something was off, but I couldn’t pinpoint it. :DAt that height, it is a dune buggy

I was recently rejected by the San Antonio office as well despite having all the paperwork in order. First they said “sand rail”. Showed them the Texas Motor Vehicle Code definition of a sand rail and why it wasn’t applicable. Gave them several examples of other already licensed Texas Goblins. They claimed they forwarded the paperwork up to Austin and were told it was a “stripped down vehicle”. Pretty bummed, not sure which way to go from here.

Hey so Im about to go through the process here soon. Any advice on the registration process in Dallas?

Hey all, I'm new here and about to get started with the build process. I have purchased a donor, but it didn't have a title along with it.
Reading through the Texas assembled vehicle process, it doesn't look like I need it, but I wanted to confirm with people who have gone through the process.

Is the donor title needed anywhere in the process for making the Goblin street legal in Texas?

Unless things have changed, yes.

It’s best to have the title. That’s the easiest way to prove you didn’t steal anything. If you don’t have a title and you can’t convince them nothing is stolen, they will send you to an inspection place to look up all engine/trans numbers to make sure it’s not stolen. This has proven to be a huge PITA. I know in Houston area, there’s only one place to go, it’s only open to do that type of inspection on x days and they only accept a few people per day.

Anyone try to renew registration with the new no state inspections this year? Previously I've been doing safety inspection only because when trying to emissions the machine would not accept the DFGB0278 vin. I'm in a county that still requires emission but not safety inspection. Their system doesn't even have the option for safety now so they cant renew my registration. If anyone was able to get emissions done, how? They tried a bunch of variations of the vin.

usually it’s eight “0” then your vin, 00000000DFGB0278. There have been problems in the past. You may have to call or go in to the tag office to figure it out. It’s also hit or miss if the online registration will work too. Usually I have to go to the office for it and they say “oh you could have done this online”

I’m in a non emission county. I have registered 1 vehicle so far and it had expired tags from December. I gambled if it would go through in Jan without an inspection and it did, but again I’m in a non emission county.

Did you have any luck with this? I need to get mine done this month.

No I ended up doing two inspections. One just safety with kit car's VIN and other emissions inspection with donor's VIN. The local tax office still wouldnt accept it. So went to different tax office in the next town over and explained the issue. They said just keep both inspections in the car incase I get pulled over and questioned.
