V1 2007 SS/SC Wiring Harness - Light Blue Wire

Hi all,

Working my way through the wiring harness and ran into a question:

Video 4 of the wiring harness series - Step 14 - 3:19 -- Lonny says to put the light blue wire facing in the opposite direction of all of the other wires when you are taping the body to engine connector to the other bundles. I don't have a light blue wire coming from that larger multi-plug block. Is this normal for an SC?

Which end are you working on? Fuse box or BCM?
You should have saved a length of blue wire. I believe this is the wire in question.

Robinjo
Fuse box. I left the blue wire on the BCM that the video talked about. There wasn’t a blue one to cut on the fuse box end
Go back to Video #3 Step 20 about the 4:35 mark. There it talks about the blue wire that comes from the third brake light connector to be kept and draped back by the fuse box.

Ok so I think I figured out what's going on but not sure how to proceed. So in the video, Lonny mentions that that is the center stop light connector. It appears that that connector was actually routed to the smaller gray, square multi-plug on mine (guess its different for an 07???) -- Does anyone happen to know if there is any documentation that indicates which pins from each fuseblock, multiplug and connector are used for the Goblin? @Lonny

Some of my plugs were slightly different from the video as well. I made the attached diagram.
Now, if this is indeed the same wire for the 3rd brake light it may not be an issue. This would only be a problem if you want to run a third brake light. The it *may* be an issue if you want to run cruise control (CC). Some of the vehicles need to sense the third brake light to operate CC, it sounds like '08 may have been the starting point but that isn't completely clear. I'm planning to add a third brake light and the diode in line assuming it doesn't work, just to be safe. That and to teach my son (and I) more about wiring schemes.

Ross has given access to his aldata subscription for the 2007 ss/sc here ( hope he doesn't mind me reposting).
(2) Anyone know where i can get Cobalt wiring diagrams? | DF Kit Car Forum

It will take some digging to find but should be there. As far as what is used for the Goblin, I don't know of a list, but think about what you need for the functioning car. When in doubt leave enough wire that you can add back a circuit if needed.

Very sage advice. I had to pull a pin from a connector because I clipped them all off and then needed that one back. Re-soldering to a few inches of line would have been easier at first. After learning how to pull the pin it was really easy to do. The ECM and BCM connectors might be a little harder.....

G
The BCM and ECM are much harder to do. I de-pinned all of the excess wires from those connectors and it was very hard to get the remaining wires back in the correct slot and back together. In retrospect it wasn't worth the time it took to do.

Looking at this here - the green wire that runs to the body to engine connector, is in fact to the backup lamps, correct?

Also, the tan low reference wire that runs to the ECM (Pin 29) from the fuel pump - I was reading in another thread that this is used for the clutch in turbo cars. Is this wire needed for SC cars?

G
You may want to link that thread so we can see the context. I don't remember anything that connects the clutch to fuel. In general, I think the clutch wiring is very similar between the TC and SC.

There was a green wire that ran to a taped union and then two wires out (each going to a connector). Those are the back up light (reverse lamp) wires.
