V1 2009 SS/TC wire harness questions

Gotta start a thread because I anticipate a few questions regarding the wire harness. For starters, after cutting the the black OnStar plug 1 of the twisted set of wires went exactly as shown in the video, however the other set went to the red ABS plug and not the black/purple plug like depicted in the video.

Do I still have to keep these twisted wires attached? what are these used for in the build?

Also, what about all of the other wires in that plug? seems as though I could remove it all together considering it doesn't exist in the videos

Everything on the red connector can be cut out. You don't need to keep the twisted wires attached to that particular plug. Save the wire though. Those wires are used for the GMLAN which daisy chains through various components. What you'll end up doing is extending the pair that comes out of BCM and connecting it up to the pair that comes out of the ECM. All the stuff that they run through in the middle like the OnStar module and ABS gets removed.

Awesome thanks, I got that all removed.

Do I need to keep the center brake light wires?

I have a small purple/black connector left...do they ALL get removed?

The center brake light is optional. I am going to keep mine and mount a light probably underneath the wing. Up to you.

The second connector I believe is your brake fluid level switch that plugs into your master cylinder. The wire colors should be pink and black. I'm pretty sure you need to keep this.

So if I want the brake light to work and not cruise control do I just cut one blue wire I'm not in that stage yet so not sure if both blue wires are the same blue I just want to know so when I get to that step I know what to do

There are these 4 wires, i dont have them labeled for some reason, they run to the rear along with the drivers tail light and license plate light. Im going to leave them if nobody knows, would rather that than cut em out just to find out later that i needed em. I havent followed each one individually but they go to the black/blue multi plug

Colors are
Green/black
Blue/white
Light blue/black
Solid green

This is a hard one. If you can take a pic of the connector they go to, and maybe a view of the wires in relation to their neighbors I can look it up when I get home.

Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of on the driver's side that would run along that route would be the subwoofer, maybe? That doesn't sound right though.

RichRich
yep I think that is it. That would explain why they weren't labeled too. He had some other wiring that looked like he had some subs in there at some time. They were probably cut before I got it which is why i didn't label em.

Thanks guys, again!!!

Im not seeing a parking brake wire, Is it not there on the 09 SS?

Also, what is getting extended with the data wires we talked about earlier? I think i see the set from the ecm but where to they connect to at the BCM? I may have cut those a bit short, not seeing any that stand out unfortunately

The '09s do have a parking brake wire. It's a single pin connector with a light blue wire.

You should have two BCM connectors that look the same, the wires you're looking for are on the second one.

You should have an incoming pair of brown and brown/white from the power steering plug and an outgoing pair of tan/black and tan that will connect to the ECM. Both of these pairs are twisted so they should be easy to find unless you cut them off really short.

I think I can salvage the twisted wires, the brown and brown/white ones are good, they are on the dash harness and I did not clip those but the ones on the ECM I left about an inch long so I can make that work.

Havent found the parking brake wire yet but gonna look a bit more

EDIT:
Here is the twisted wires from the ECM soldered to the wires saved from earlier.

The wires that i soldered the extensions to came from this plug but were only apx 1-1.5ft long. They were the only wires that were that short

And this is what they get connected to

Please let me know if any of that looks wrong. Going to look for that parking brake wire. If no update then i havent found it

The ECM wires look good. The BCM pair you have in your hand looks to be the wrong one. Those are the incoming pair that should be coming from your power steering plug. Trace it out to make sure. There should be an outgoing twisted pair on the BCM that is identical in colors to the ones you fixed on your ECM.

Okay, first off thank you for all the help. Would be lost right now. I think I may have the right wire this time, but that doesn't really mean much because I thought the same thing last time lol.

These look to be the same color as the ones from the ECM

They go to this connector

If these are the right set, I am to cut them at the black and blue connector....and solder the connection between the ECM and the one directly into the BCM right?

I dont see that parking brake wire anywhere. I was so careful not to cut something that I wasnt sure. I looked through the wires I removed as well and couldn't find it.

I think it is pin 14 from BCM 1, if that is in fact correct I definitely cut it and very short too. Is this wire absolutely needed? I didn't think the parking brake was adapted into the builds yet

Yes, the parking brake signal wire is on pin 14.

Here is a pic of my BCM plug. The dark brown pair comes from the power steering plug.

The light brown pair from above will run directly to the ECM plug.

Yea I think we are saying the same thing. leave the dark brown wires alone. cut the light brown and run them to the ECM.

What is the purpose of the parking brake wire? what if I don't hook it up? I highly doubt I can get solder to it being how short I cut it
