Went for a brake launch on Monday night in the rain (of all times) and once I released the brake, all hell broke loose. The SRT instantly went into a nuetral and I could tell something broke. Pulled the transfer case tonight and this guy came with it...

So needless to say Ill be down one vehicle for a smidge while I hunt down a transmission. These things are supposed to be rated for serious power, this exact one... not so much.
Anyone know of a trans for a 2014-2017 SRT Grand Cherokee? Remanufactured one from Jeep is $7k and thats just not feasible.

Wow, that's a classic torsion shear break at a weak point in the shaft. Could have been a material flaw - or maybe just a case of mechanical over-torque. At any rate, the input shaft to most automatic transmissions are not super difficult to replace. As long as the front bearing is not torn up - which would need to be replaced with the shaft - there should be no damaged transmitted into the gear set or clutches. You may be able to find a transmission shop who can replace the input shaft, do fresh-up on anything that needs it (like clutch bands) for a reasonable price and much less than $7K.

Output shaft. Not sure if that makes it easier or harder. Ill contemplate replacing the shaft when its all said and done, once I can deove the truck and breath again.

The output shaft is a little tougher, from what I remember, as it has some of the gearset attached. I could be wrong though, since this is a newer computer controlled transmission versus the TH350s/TH400s that I used to work on.

BTW, for the $7K (ok, maybe a little more) you could upgrade with a HP transmission and transfer case:
Paramount Performance Transmissions, NAG 1 (722.6) Blueprinted High Torque Capacity Transmission PPT-NAG1 (highhorseperformance.com)
Paramount Performance "High Torque Transfer Case" for Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, SRT & Trackhawk - PPT-JEEPHTTC (highhorseperformance.com)

When things break, is it not time for an upgrade? ;)

Well, I'm in 18103, found one in New Jersey about an hour away out of a Jeep being parted out for $1000, same mileage that my jeep has on it. Hopefully its everything the guy says it is, as I only have his word that it works
