There are two SS axles.
The turbo LNF axles are bigger than the supercharged LSJ axles.
I think the stock engine has smaller axles than the supercharged one, but I'm not sure.
Equal length:
My LSJ has 2 axles that are the same on both sides (blue circles). The differential (red circle) is on the driver side, and the yellow circle has a mid shaft that transfers power to the other side axle.
All Cobalt years and trims (NA 2.2, NA 2.4, and supercharged 2.0) share the same axles. The turbocharged 2.0 years and trim have thicker axles, and need different knuckles and hubs.
The axles are all the same on the engine side. As long as your axles, knuckles, and hubs all match, it'll work.
Source: me. I have a 2.0L turbo with axles, knuckles and hubs from a non-turbo.
I believe the 2.4 N/A SS had the F35 transmission so it would have the 3 piece axles - left/right with the intermediate shaft. Someone will have to experiment with the 2.2 N/A to see if the 3 piece axles will mate up (splines) and bolt up.
