Houston SCCA Autocross

SmsDetroit
I know this group is very active. I got into Autocross heavily this year. Think I’ve done 10 events. I was looking at switching to pro since I have hardly anyone ever run in EM. I would love to compete against people. The PAX for EM Sucks. I was looking at the XU class because the PAX is much better. It seems the car would fit in as long as I ran street tires 200tw. Wondering if anyone has made the switch and if you were called out or denied to run in XU.

We've tossed the idea around of going to XU but we are still in EM, mainly because we don't want to invest in new tires. My tires are getting to the end of usefulness so I have a decision point soon. Luckily we have 2-3 goblins in EM along with a few randoms periodically.

What bill said. We are lucky to have usually 3 of us, sometimes up to 6 or so in EM.

At the moment, I’d rather change to slicks in em than go slower with 200tw in XU.

Testing the goblin for the big race next weekend. :D

lol. No not yet. Was going to just run the app I use on my bike that can record lap times, as long as there’s a decent cell signal.

AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! WIPEOUT! :p:cool:
It’s been a long while since I have spun it like that. I overcooked the turn, added a touch of brakes and she was coming around no matter what. I figured I could somewhat recover, maybe but probably be a much more harsh spin, or just let it spin and call it a day. I chose option B. It was spectacular :p

Gotta find the limits sometime

It was an interesting weekend. ToxicBill and I ran a 2 day event with our SCCA autocross at the Naval Air Station Chase Field, in Beeville, TX. This was different. We made use of the runway for the course. This was an interesting mix of traction with going from concrete to asphalt to painted surfaces here and there. The tires were not happy to say the least. It was cloudy all day Saturda, with a feisty downpour after the event, but lead to a clear and 70ish day on sunday. We ran “nationals format” of 3 runs in the morning and 3 in the evening. best run from the morning is combined with best run from the evening to determine the winner. That’s different o_OHere is my runs, course maps and pics.

It wasn’t the best day to switch to slicks for a test run, but I didn’t die or go off track. :D Ran autocross in full wet at the start of the session, then somewhat dry at the end. Slicks still had good grip as I lowered air pressure and the track dried. Still ended up in 3rd for our reg runs, but 1.3 sec ahead counting my db runs. ‘26 will be a fun season. :D

I’m at scca pro solo in beeville. This is different. It’s a drag “Christmas tree” to start. Left and right courses are different and you finish one sue and onto the other “hot laps”. Can’t get out of your car, but can have someone adjust tire pressure if you have someone there to help you. Since I’m solo, I just ask someone to check my tires (if there’s enough time) that’s just standing around.
Here’s some pics. Vids later.gonna storm tonight. Should be fun in the morning.
