My goblin is......

Two things I have learned in the last 20 years of marriage:

1. You have to give to get
2. Happy Wife Happy Life

P.S. : If my wife wanted a new house I would be all over that because I'm sure I could convince her that it needs to include a monster of a garage.
...sitting on the back burner because my wife wanted a new house.

I’m headed for the same situation.
we have been looking and putting in offers, the market here is insane. Houses list at noon and close by 6 same day for 20k over asking with no appraisal or inspection.
We decided to look into builders and start from scratch (same money more house but with a 1 year wait) and this gives me the option for a 4 car garage with the 3rd stall being 49’ deep and 12’ ceilings. Literally the only thing I asked for besides a patio (I’m so done building and staining decks).

I dont know how people are building right now. When I built mine in 2016 OSB was $7 sheet. Last summer we decided to build a pond house, OSB was around $9 sheet by the time I ordered the lumber on labor day it was $15 a sheet now it is $32 a sheet.

Kinda like the price of premium fuel went from $2.35 to $3.45 in less than 3 months. Let's see, the last time fuel increased by 75%, reaching almost $5 per gallon, was the last time the executive office was blue...need I say anymore.

8’ 2x4 were under $3 (around 2.40) 14 months ago, last time I bought (to build my wire harness table) they were over $8.
lucky for us builders prices have stayed about the same (<%5 increase) but with a %20 increase coming in the next few months.
It’s time to sign papers.
The “almost wife” deserves a medal
She is currently 8 months pregnant, working full time in a hospital as a nurse, in a masters program to be a nurse practitioner, dealing with a 2yr old, 3yr old, the dog, and me while I’m building a project car and recently got promoted requiring me to be at work an extra hour 6 days a week!
