V1 Powdercoat or paint?

W
I was headed down the road of powdercoating my frame when my neighbor flagged me away (he does resto mods). His concern was that I would be doing work on the frame that would require welding / adjustments and was worried the benefits would be lost with grinding and drilling. Thoughts?

Try to make any desired modifications to the chassis before powder coat, or do like I did and pick a color of powder coat that has a readily available color match paint.

If you want the flexibility of adding mods to the chassis post build, then rattle can the chassis for now, or get a weldable paint (Steel-it) and drive it like that until you feel confident you don't want any more mods to the chassis. Then you can tear down, powdercoat, then reassemble. The second reassembly would be a breeze since you would already have everything working, knowing that all the electrical grimlins (harness wiring issues for example) would've been worked out during the first assembly.

I've heard good things about Steel-it paint.
I used rustoleum paint because I new I wanted to be able to make changes, and it is pretty inexpensive to repair.
