Programing Issue

This is a problem I have been having and it's quite troublesome.Sometimes while driving my Goblin the anti theft light comes one and the car shifts hard, all the gauges go crazy, the power steering goes out, and most important, the transmission shifts really hard and early. down shifting is another issue. The car won't go over 60mph. Is there any way to eliminate the anti theft system? I mean really, I don't think worrying about someone breaking into the car is really an issue right?

I did read somewhere that the system can be deleted but I don't know who to take it to! Any help or input to this would be greatly appreciated! By the way the Cobalt that was used to build the car was a 2010 standard, no supercharger or turbo.

Thanks
Brian

I forgot to add I had the key relearn done three times, also checked the battery ground connections. Also like I said, sometimes it comes on and sometimes not.

can you find someone who has a tech2 programmer to see what's going on with the BCM? I had a similar issue and I had to replace my ignition switch. it was a whole ordeal.

I believe that HP tuners can be used to delete the VATS.

Sounds like your car is sometimes not able to communicate on the GM high speed LAN/Canbus.
I had this issue, with intermittent data loss.
For me, I was able to fix this by replacing a bad electrical connector, and the power steering unit.

There was a recall and the key switch and steering system was replaced by the dealer. They relearned the key to it 3 times, I also did it once myself!

if anyone has HP tuners contact number I sure could use that too!

Not really such a thing as HP Tuners “number”. They don’t do anything by phone. Not sure why you are wanting to call them. You can buy the Interface on their website or other authorized dealers. You are probably going to be around $500 in to do it all yourself. And it still may be some other problem. Like a bad connection. I’m not sure how much of the other possible issues that doing a VATs delete will bypass.

VATs delete won't fix a Canbus issue. If you are getting the POWER STEERING message on your dash, then it isn't communicating with the power steering computer.

Yep. I would be checking for a loose connection somewhere, or possibly ignition lock cyl/switch like on the recall.
