A lot of the return value depends on where you live, and how much effort you put into selling the left over parts.
For the Cobalt based goblins some builders got $0, as they just had someone haul off the scrap metal.
Other builders got upwards of $2000 for parts. Ebay is a good way to get a global market place (electric mirrors, door handles, etc) but some parts are too big (door or plastic bumper cover), and shipping costs more than the part can be sold for, so facebook marketplace works better.
You also have to inspect used parts, as some donor cars have fewer crash surviving parts.
The scrap metal body is worth around $150. Catalytic converter, $200. etc.

A big factor is how much rust on the parts. Resale for desert car parts with zero rust is far more lucrative than donor parts from other areas of the country - that's where I made money scrapping out my donor.

For my original built, I had a ton of rust on my car and was only able to sell the wheels/tires off it. I'm not budgeting to be able to sell any parts from my new build. It'll be a nice bonus for an upgrade if it happens.
