I have car #234 for sale, Florida. Had a gentleman come all the way from Texas (16 hours). Drove the car and gave me a check. But found out later that day that he could not get insurance on it. So my question is how many people in Texas have them registered, tagged and insured as a kit car or a cobalt. He says he wants the car but afraid he cant get insurance on it..

Or Montana route but it can be done in Texas. I’ll let one of them enter in now….

I just used Kristy (sp?) Bell at Ralley for insurance. She has insured a bunch of the members Goblins and my dealing with her was super easy. I contacted her and had coverage either that day or the next.

Insurance is a tricky thing almost every where, not just Texas. Residence location (municipality), age, driving record, will all play into the Insurance equation. May have to try several agencies to find one, seems many have had luck talking to an independent insurance agent to get coverage. Search for insurance in the forum, there should be many discussion threads that may help.

I wouldn’t insure one as a Cobalt. I doubt that insurance would pay off on a claim once they saw the car.

There is a large variation in state to state coverage and whether one of the “standard” insurance companies will cover it. If he just called his existing insurance company then not that surprised they didn’t cover it. But I would be very surprised if he can’t get coverage period. Unless he has so bad a driving record that he can barely get insurance anyway.
