Well one cut on the forehead, broken iPhone back glass and 4 hours later. I have the engine separated from the chassis and the new 3 piece tunnel cover fitted

While it’s out I’m going to do the timing chain. I’m seeing a balance shaft chain and cam sprockets online. Should I order and replace them as well?

Since it’s out and you are doing the chain, I would do the guides, adjuster and such too. Anything that might be a failure point.

I would think only if sprockets are worn. They should be metal gears. Doesn’t hurt if you are wanting everything fresh though.

I did that when I first built it. I’m just trying to figure out if the sprockets are needed or save the money for other fun stuff

I would take a look at the teeth and see if they have worn marks. If they are not to expensive might as well swap them. Like any sprocket im sure they start to get rounded with milage.

Next question. On the left is the clutch I installed last year because when you put the clutch in when sitting still the car would creep forward. So I thought the old one was bad (clutch on the right). When I pulled the trans I found a spec clutch in it with original slave cylinder. Well if you read above I have to replace the new one because of a fluid leak damaging it. I measured the friction disks and the material is within .02mm difference. So I don’t think the only one was worn out. My plan was to put the old one back in. When I measured the overall height of both they are about 1.5mm different in height. Is that something I need to worry about? I will add. With the new clutch and slave cylinder in it the creeping went away.

The SPEC will not be a cheap unit to replace if you go that route. If you can use the SPEC, I would. I like my stage 2+ so far. Are there part numbers on it?

Next question. Has anyone heard of Mizumo auto parts. This looks like a good complete kit at a good price for timing chain, balance chain and water pump.
