Throttle Bounce

In some of my posts in the past, we commented about an issue with the touchy throttle. We've had an issue with any kind of bump in the road causing my foot to bounce a bit on the throttle and constantly blipping the throttle. At times it was difficult to drive, such as up my gravel driveway that is plagued with wash-boarding at times. I was looking for ways to add a stiffer spring to some type of damper to the throttle. We have modified the throttle response under low load conditions and that has helped but not eliminated the issue.

Well as it turns out while dealing with suspension issues, one of the things we realized is that we had somehow increased (and left) the compression dampening on the front Q1 shocks. This made them so stiff the entire frame of the car bounced on some bad road causing our body, leg, and foot to bounce on the throttle. After softening the compression (to about 3-5 clicks in from all the way out), I unexpectedly noticed one day that I was no longer having any throttle bounce; not even up the bumpy driveway! Almost never! We can drive it smooth as we want. The same road that I used to hate taking was no longer an issue. I cannot believe the difference it has made. We may tighten it up just a tad, but it's a great start.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm no longer looking for a fix for the throttle. Unless we HAVE to change the suspension for track or something. I'm happy with the way it is.

What are yours set to?

Someone mentioned that the Qa1's did not work well on the Stalkers at 4 clicks stiff. I pulled mine and verified that at 4 clicks they are almost rock hard so they are set at 1. Also running bumpstops on all 4 corners.

I had bucking and surging issues also. Did the LSJ to turbo swap and it is completely gone. Car also idles well even with going from 60 to 80lb injectors with no brfs.

Stock DF springs? Any bottoming out over big bumps? Sounds like you hit the sweet spot. :)
I can't remember now. I moved the front stock springs to the rear for the coilovers and don't remember what the new fronts are. I think they are 400s in the front and the 300s were in the front and now are in the rear.

When driving around I have them at full soft and then turn them up 2 clicks for autocross. Seems to be working well. I have 400# springs in the front with the 1" longer shocks to get the correct ride height and almost no spring preload. The throttle can still be a little touchy but getting the suspension right made a HUGE difference in street drivability!

I don't like the gas pedal range to begin with. I am thinking about a way to take an axis point from the bottom of the pedal and add a small extension with a higher pivot point, or otherwise increase the pedal travel.
