Title & registration Style?

F
So i am looking at buying a DF goblin from a person in AZ. it is currently titled and register in AZ. i went to the DMV to figure out logistics here in NM. they have said that it would be classified as " off highway" street use. so i would not be able to drive on the freeways. how is your DF goblin registered and titled? What state are you in? any advie?

special construction dunebuggy.
That's probably going to be a problem. DMV's tend to have some flexibility for the first time registration of a specialty construction vehicle. But if an existing title says something that would lead them to an offroad only vehicle, it's going to be hard to get it changed. Even if the original state allows it "on-road".

You can always register it thru Montana if you can't get it thru the NM DMV. That way it is highway legal.

Were other builders were successful in New Mexico?

Well, maybe Montana is your best option for a street legal goblin in New Mexico.
You set up a company in Montana, and then that company owns a goblin, and lets you use it.
The goblin gets registered in Montana, as it is owned by a Montana company, and you get to use it in New Mexico, or any other state.

It might be a problem even taking the Montana route, since the current title at least hints at "dune buggy". Definitely would need to confirm how Montana would handle the existing title.
