Wow... lots of progress. New toys came just in time for christmas. Your friend did a nice job on those aluminum welds.
Ya he is getting better since last year. Next step is mounting the powertrain and connecting everything. I need to extend the reverse plug wiring. I'm guessing I need to make or find a cap for the opening next to the breather?

I’m gonna watch your build carefully I also have a 2.4 block and a lnf crank that I’m slowly gonna start piecing together. Which head gasket did you end up going with on thickness?

Couple updates the past couple days. Was able to get the engine/trans mounted in the car. Extended the reverse light plug and ran the power wire from my relay setup to the rear for the EWP. Looking into possibly high mounting the intercooler so the stock holes for the cables on the wing mount don't come into contact with the piping. Not a huge deal but also don't like the intercooler in the back getting heat from the exhaust/motor.

Wife thinks the intercooler up top looks wierd need a second opinion. Any idea if more flow or better cooling vs behind the motor. I know the air flow is crap but now I'm second guessing.

Ya I think they are equally good, but I know the engine in the back so heat. But with the high mount I'd have to get a guy I know to make piping. I want to do a 3" cutout with the muffler and with having the intercooler back there it will be crowded with the electric water pump.

If I had to choose, aesthetically pleasing would be behind the engine, although I don’t like either, but that’s just me. If you are generating that much heat, I’d go functional over fashion.

If I do the rear mount again I'm going to put the mounting plates on the bottom of the subframe vs on top to drop it a few inches. Maybe one day I'll do an air to water.

Picked up the 2000 Grand Am axles today. Short driver and long boy passenger side. Axle went in fine, heard the click on both sides and they aren't pulling out like they are in all the way but the passenger side looks a little far out but heard it pop in. Also got the rear suspension setup and found a decent place for the EWP I'll use some heat shielding around the hoses because they will be close to the turbine housing/exhaust manifold. Next step is going to be plumbing the EWP and waiting for my Dyemond Fab intake.

Alright got the 16AN hoses made and attached to to EWP, man it's a pain to get those hose end attached to the hose by hand. Also got the ZZP upgraded hpfp installed along with their in line filter. Started putting together the Dyemond fab intake but the hole for the map sensor was too tight and broke the tip off. Good thing Jegs has the 3-bar Chevy map sensors in stock for like $35. Productive day so far. Filled the car with coolant just have to finish the manifold and tie up some loose ends.

Sun 3/8

Shouldn't have left the tuning laptop in the garage all winder battery was toast so picked up a new HP under $200, score. Loaded the new base tune and primed the car by cranking for 10 seconds (no fuel pump relay or inj. Fuse).Car fired up after a few struggles to start. Idled great nice little chop from the stage 2 cams. Checked for leaks all good, back it out drove to the end of my block and when coming to a stop died. Figured new tune but car wouldn't restart. It clicked but not turn over, but the battery was good had been on the tender all winter. Brought it back took the valve cover off and one of the rockers on the exhaust side was barely on. Idk about that I'll chalk it up to my error while timing it. Hopefully not a dead lifter.
Pulled the head no damage to the pistons. Was iffy reusing the head do to the cylinder 1 issue I had months prior. When removing the tensioner it stripped...on the way out...gets better and better. New head on the way and pulled the 82# valve springs off the current head thanks to Harbor freight.

Monday 3/9
Was rolling around in bed thinking why would that cause the car to not turn over is something binding? Pulled the balancer off and took the timing cover off and saw a chunk of metal in the oil window on the back. Thought greaaaaaat. Pulled the cover off the oil pump gear **** the bed randomly? New timing cover coming as well. Parts should be here Monday don't have to go to work until that Thursday. So hopefully mon/Tuesday get the work done. /Rant

I put upgraded ones in mine when I rebuilt. Not these ones specifically, but their predecessor (hardened vs the new billet). Might be worth looking into

It's off the last engine. Started from a bare block so didn't come complete with a new cover. Car had 155k when I bought it. Emailed zzp about it as well will see if they are down to ship me a new set of taller lash adjusters.
