Warning Rant: HP Tuners Disabled 2 of my PCMs

G
If your tune file is from original read of the vehicle just modified then write entire is probably fine. If ZZP is sending a file that is not based upon you vehicle it gets a lot more tricky. Even without these new problems, writing entire from a different ecm could brick the ECM.

I would start with a support ticket with HPT and see if they now have an official solution for this problem (or even acknowledge it) and maybe post on the HPT forums and see if it catches anyone's attention.
Firmware upgrade to 5.3.17 (hptuners.com)

Here is a pic of the info of my new MPVI3
Yeah same firmware I had that didn’t work. You won’t get it to work regardless of what you switch it to right now. You need to open a support ticket and let them know that you are aware of at least two people with the same exact issue that was resolved by getting access to the Alpha firmware release. They have to give you I cannot since it is programmed to each unit. Once they add you to the list you can completely remove the software suite you have installed now then download and install the beta suite. Then when you go to resync in the top menu on that it should automatically update your firmware to thr alpha. After that you should be able to write with no problem but you will have to write entire. Mine works every time since then.

From HPT:
REWRITE ENTIRE (SELECTED VEHICLES ONLY)
This is a useful feature for the tuner shop or mail order tuner and doesn't apply much to a single-vehicle tuner. What this can allow you to do is program a VCM that came from another vehicle for your specific vehicle type. You must make sure that the VCM hardware matches. This is a very powerful feature and must be used with caution. If you write a VCM with a file that doesn't belong on it, you could damage the VCM and cause it to be unrecoverable. It is not available for all vehicle types.

So I would talk to ZZP about your tune file origin before write entire.

correct. Generally if they sent you an ecu and you are using that file to work with they should be working with the original file but in any case if you read the file and save it from your ecu and send that then it should be compatible but explain to them that you can use write entire only and let them confirm.

Zzp says there is an update that is now working for LSJ however after installing and trying I’m still having identical issues but have not tried write entire. The tune is based off the original tune pulled from the car they said but did not tell me if I should or shouldn’t try write entire but did confirm that it’s based off my original. What do you think?

Yeah I had emailed them about it so they would know if anyone had that issue. It will only work with write entire. You will get the same timeout issue if you try to write calibration. I did that with my tune from them on the ecu they sent me and it worked fine.

I would manually change the different settings into a copy of your original read file and write entire from that file. You can use the compare log to find all of the settings that are different.

But I would give it some time for a support ticket to be answered through HPT first to see if there are any other fixes. And if you don't do a support ticket they may not be aware of the extent of the problem.

He'll need a support ticket and for them to allow him access to the newest firmware before he can get it to write regardless. The manual input way can work also for sure but you just have to make sure you are thorough about it.

I submitted a ticket a couple of days ago and have heard nothing back.

I submitted a ticket a couple of days ago and have heard nothing back.

They usually get back to me by the following day. If after 3 days nothing I would suggest opening a new one just in case.

FYI this is generally what you will need to send them so maybe collect this info and send one time to get a headstart....

Thank you for contacting Support. For me to assist you, I will need several items all listed below. Unfortunately error messages and behavior reports on their own generally aren't enough to pinpoint your issue.
These files quickly communicate a lot of detailed information about your specific issue:
• Detailed vehicle information (VIN, OS)
• Credit and license details

In this case, we need the following:
1) The stock file you read from the PCM;
2) The file you are writing to the PCM when the issue occurs;
3) A VCM Suite Infolog pulled while connected to the vehicle in question. You can find instructions here: https://support.hptuners.com/hc/en-us/articles/4419307400845-How-to-Generate-a-VCM-Suite-Infolog
4) The debug.dat file found in your folder: https://support.hptuners.com/hc/en-...221-Locating-a-Debug-dat-and-License-dat-File
5) A screenshot of the error you are receiving

If you are having troubles please see the following video:

Once we receive the requested information, we will look it over and get back to you with the next steps.
Thank you,
