What's your temperature limit for driving the Goblin?

How hot can you go?

There's a track day in Topeka KS on August 21. I desperately want to go. It's projected to be a frosty 100 degrees that day. Which means, on the 1000 acres of pavement that is the infield area, it's probably going to be 110-115 or so ambient. Even higher with the heat index. I'm worried I may perish in the inferno.

So far I've driven my goblin in about 95 degree heat, and it was "ok". A bit like having a hair dryer blowing on you the whole time. At least the air is moving though.

We have done 103 here in Houston.
Kind of sucks the fun from it, though.
Tires get happy real fast in those temps. And then maybe beyond and not so happy.......

I drove mine for a couple of hours with a heat index of probably 105. Soaked with sweat when I was done. I looked at some of the cooling shirts but the evaporative cooling ones don't work that well in the humid south and a lot of the "freeze" pack ones seemed to have iffy reviews. I did order a pressurized water bladder to throw in a cooler this week.

We get up over 100 here occasionally. It wouldn't stop me from going, but I would complain the whole time.
I think that might be my strategy.

I haven't had the goblin to the big track yet, only autocross. I'm dying to do a real track day with it. I'm thinking I'll go, bring a cooler, and complain a lot.

Do you have links to the sort of products you're talking about? They sound like a simpler setup than the system I linked in my previous comment

ECT’s will be “fine”, but would keep an eye on it. The cooling on the goblin is greater than a cobalt. Cab temp will be scorching and IAT could be an issue, if you have a charged car (no sig, so I don’t know your doner)

Did autocross with 100+ ambient, 120 ground and 130+ “Cab”. ECT’s ran 180-196 depending on if fan was running. IAT triggered a limp mode that cut power.

IAT might ok on an open track vs on/off throttle of a autocross

You were probably just showing us that it’s friggen hot…. But…

Should be using a probe type temp reader for the tires if you actually want good data. The surface of a tire will change temp dramatically within 30 seconds of being removed from “hard use”. The metal probe type measures the cord temp to tell you how you alignment is working and how you’re wearing the tires (inside/center/outside). Just FYI. :)

They ended up cancelling the track day in Topeka :(

They cancelled it the night before at 11pm in an email. They gave some vague reason about the heat, although I suspect the real issue was too many corner workers refused to work. I don't actually blame them....if I'm doing a low paid gig to work a corner at a race track during 104 degree heat, I wouldn't be too happy about it either.

Next one is in August. Hopefully not quite as hot, but probably still unpleasant.
