V1 Pisco's extended city goblin #220 (2009 SS/TC donor) Registered

Joebob
I just lost communication that started as sporatic with HPtuners. Since I am constantly plugging and unplugging it to the car and computer turned out to be a failed USB A to USB C cable. All good now. I also have a OBD2 plug extension to not put the wear and tear on the cars socket and wiring.

Or it could be a power to the dlc connector problem. Or maybe the low speed data wires. Or it could be a broken HPT interface. Or a bad cable to the laptop. Or user error. We really don’t have much to work with here.

I'm IN!!!!

downloaded the latest beta of vcm and flashed the firmware it connected immediately I was worried the data wires were damaged somewhere in the harness
That’s a great feeling! I was worried I messed mine up while doing my harness as well, turns out I forgot to plug in a connector back at the engine o_O.

WOW! It is a great feeling when I find the trouble, the whole time, is that I forgot to plug something in! YESSS! Take your wins when they happen! ;)

First start plus HP tuners getting installed got me confident then I thought about what all is left to do to get running....

now I need to make a lits of things left to do
run wires and make mount for gauges / install wideband & ethanol sensor
cap tunnel
bleed clutch
finish bleeding brakes
find suitable power for IC pump (currently always hot) I may use a relay to control
run acc power and heated seat power up tunnel
Install park brake cables
tail lights install
headlights install
mirrors install
torque rear suspension and brake hardware
paint and install body panels
paint and install hood
install naca ducts
adjust shifter
Install seats and seat heaters (waiting on delivery)
bcm mount & passenger kick plate paint and install
rear diffuser
splitter or 9lr wang (or clone)
usb ports
grip tape floors
seal/fill floor behind seats
extend lighting wiring that is too short
oil air filter?
secure fuel line between tank and hpfp
fire extinguisher mount x2 (I want one "inside the car" and another on the rollcage "outside")
Install battery kill switch and battery tender charger
tune the car, First thing is getting a "safe" tune in there to get suspension etc figured out, we will make power later

what am I missing? I guess I'll figure it out when I get there

"Current future" plans are to add a second heat exchanger behind a wheel next to the engine compartment with a fan thermostatically controlled to help drop coolant temps, a larger or possibly second intercooler with mounted in front of the engine near the throttle body vertically to self bleed air and not be the highest point in the system and fit under an uncut engine cover.
bigger turbo, ballance shaft delete, add halo to cage, new subframe, splitter, air dam, side skirts, smaller brakes, smaller/wider wheels, side safety netting, lower maf conversion and short intake with scoop,

Any Pics of seat brackets and position anywhere? I'm not finding much in my searches..
mounting seats and harness tonight then I jumped in, I can't reach the floor with pedals! I'm 5'11" and some change and have a 32" inseam Is it possible I have the wrong brackets, brackets installed incorrectly, or am I hosed and need to build custom brackets?

Donor seats and brackets? DF sourced Corbeau seats and brackets? Other aftermarket seats and brackets? You need ti be more specific with the details when asking for help - or post some pics - so we can better understand the issue. There are so many options regarding seats and brackets available, but custom seat brackets are one option.

DF sourced corbeau fx1Pro seats and barckets.

For my standard frame, I had the same issue when mocking up my seats. I'm short (5'9" if my doctor is feeling generous) and when i mocked up my seat at a 20° standard recline I couldn't reach the pedals, the steering wheel was in my chest, and the harness angles were incorrect. Once I reclined the seat significantly (sorry, I didn't take a measurement)... the steering wheel position felt great, the pedals were reachable, and all the harness angles lined up.

I'm not sure I have that adjustment available

I also tried to run the lap belt through the opening in the side of the seat but the distance from the mount on the frame to the opening is exactly the same as the length of the strap to the adjustment buckle and doesn't seem to be able to pass through

This is a time when I want to be wrong and hopefully one of you can tell me what I did or didn't do.
As a last resort I may try to visit the scrapyard to snag a couple sliders and build a bottom mount bracket for the seats.

Yeah, it looks like you're out of adjustment. You may be able to weld or bolt a spreader plate to span the pocket at the rear seat mounts, add a hole lower, and drop the rear of the seat more, but I think the seat will bottom out on the floor pan before you get any appreciable movement.

Are you using pull up harnesses? I prefer pull ups, but that's the biggest downside since the adjuster isn't at the buckle like on most pull down harnesses. I wanted pull ups for the Goblin, especially for a spaceframe car since it keeps the tail inside the seat, but had the same issue as you and went with pull downs. Also, if the adjuster sits outboard of the seat, and most adjusters release by pushing "out", the lap belts may loosen themselves in an accident if the adjuster hits the seat. In other words, don't run them if the adjuster is sitting there.

A big downside of bottom mount and sliders is your seat starts to get pretty high which is bad for rollover safety, and you'll sit higher which will exacerbate your issue with reaching the pedals.

yes here is the interference issue
I won't run it like this, but I have basically no experience with harness belts. From searching images here it looks like others have left the belts outside the seat instead of through?
otherwise a bracket of some sort to move the mounting point closer to the seat
For the seat issue I may trace the DF supplied bracket and modify to fit then send cut send or find a local plasma or laser cutter to burn it for me.
I didn't know how frustrating it gets as you get closer to completion.

I'm not sure what you mean by this as the belts will mount outside of the seat, and pass through the seat hole. Not all harness sets have adjusters on the webbing between the buckle and the mounting bracket. A lot of them have the adjuster at the buckle, which would solve this interference issue.

these are corbeau harnesses which I know quite a few goblins are running in combination with the corbeau seats,
It seems like the belt length from the mount to the adjuster is short

Are those the Corbeau harnesses that come with the seats or something different? I seem to recall my Corbeau harnesses had the adjuster outside the seat and I pulled the tail back through the hole and towards the buckle to tighten. I've since installed new harnesses that are "pull down" (as opposed to "pull up") with the adjuster at the buckle, as duthehustle93 mentioned.
