V1 Thoughts on OBD2 digital gauges via tablet?

Fozda
I don't have a printed backplate for it. In thinking about it, the same 1/4in ABS I used for my dash panels, could be cut out/trimmed as backplate. Then mount that backplate to something.
What would you mount it to?
Have something in mind?
I'll have to take a look when I get home but I think the bolts that hold the steering column would work as long as you account for the angle and everything.

To use those bolts, you'd want aluminum or steel in there. Then maybe the plastic attached to it. The printed plastic will definitely crush and delaminate.

Could roll bar clamps be used as a mount, that way the torque of steering mount bolts won't damage the plastic parts? The dash hoop is right there and some sort of extended support could be fabricated. :D

Yeah maybe something like those to take the majority of the weight and a third, light weight pickup point to keep the whole thing from shakin'.

Are these pictures taken at eye level sitting in the seat? I love the 3D printed tablet mount/cover
This is eye level. The tablet has to be offset due the guage cluster, unless I end up moving the dash closer. Or print an offset pedestal mount to compensate for the cluster and center it? Hmm, you got me thinking now.

I am not planning on running a cobalt cluster at all, I feel like what you have on that tablet makes it obsolete

The cluster is not needed at all. Info only. Makes no difference without it.

That is very good to know... The only thing I don't know how to "replace" is the fuel gauge, but I am sure I can figure that out somehow... Even if I just get a "Low Fuel" light.

Fuel level is on the CAN bus. You can simply pull it from there. Here is the the list of the parameters that AIM and Aeroforce provide through the CAN; which you should be able to pull from the bus using any interface with the proper protocal:

Fuel level shows up without issue using torque pro and an obd2 reader.

How are you solving for the odometer data? I haven’t been able to pull that from the obd2 reader yet.

I’m curious about lag issues that come with using tablets to interface live data from the the CAN bus. This was part of the reason I was swayed from going that route.
