V1 Ark's City Goblin #187 (2008 SS/TC donor)

Rttoys
I need to take mine to work to get inspected (for registration renewal). The morning drive wouldn’t be too bad, but 100+ afternoon drive home would bring the suck. :(

It’s not how far you drive, it’s how hard you drive far…….

Keep letting those PSI’s loose!!!

;)

That's the plan, though I may have a problem looming. Lately, my coolant temps have been spiking, seemingly randomly. Temp is usually between 190 and 194, but lately, it's been spiking to 206-208, and today it hit the biggest spike yet of 219. I'm not losing any coolant, and my radiator isn't being obstructed. Water pump dying? Time will tell.

Those are still ok. I see 219 at autoX in 95 deg weather regularly. They go down to 210 while running Though.
Not sure easiest way to verify the water pump.
Check your rad fan too.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned yet. I plan to take the engine cover off this weekend and top off both the engine coolant and the turbo coolant.

Just ran the car for two hours around my local roads, and it didn't spike at all; stayed consistently between 190 and 194 degrees. It's cooler today, but I've driven the car plenty in hot (hot) weather without seeing spikes before this season. So while I am not concerned at this point, I'll still be adding some water wetter and topping off my coolant later today, once the family commitments release me.

Today I did a full coolant flush, replacing the coolant and adding water wetter to it. Did the same with the turbo coolant. I went out for a drive tonight and saw no spikes in temp, so ... it's a small sample size, but I'll watch it for a while.

A minor bump, today.

I had the car mostly apart this weekend to fix a few little things:

  • I have wanted to do something about my mirrors, ever since I put on different ones. The base on these is smaller than the base on the included mirrors, and they don't fit on the mirror ears without a little help. I got by, by putting the mounting bolts through two large washers on each side, which the mirror bases then pinched down against the ear. It later occurred to me, I could just get another pair of DF's mirror back plates and fix the look nicely, for next to nothing.
  • I went to CraftCloud with a copy of my dash panel made with Fusion 360, and had them print me another one. My original one was two pieces (and you could see the seam down the middle, between the halves) and it had become misshapen a bit, I suppose by being out in two summers' worth of heat, not sure. So I installed that.
  • FINALLY fixed my g** d*** f****** ^%$@&*^&#*(& cruise control. A few weeks ago, I installed the proper resistor, but that didn't help. I figured, next time I had the hood off, I would check the switch connection on the button panel to make sure it didn't have a mistake made during soldering (someone else alerted me to this possibility, I am sorry though, I forget who). Sure enough, the switch's positive connection was not soldered properly. I fixed that, and now it works.
One thing to note, if your cruise doesn't work, make sure you're setting it right: you flip the cruise switch to on, then you press Set/- while at speed to engage it.

Hey that was me! Glad I could be of service! This is only the second time I've heard of this issue. Happy to hear you got it sorted!
