V1 Balance Shaft Delete?

Wes
I did the BK kit. Actually traded him my neutral shafts for it, long story...

Can't say I really notice a significant increase in vibration. I did add an ATI pulley/damper to the crank to help and I have the Fidanza flywheel which would probably actually make it worse.

I am kinda wishing I had done away with the oil squirters since I went to forged piston/rod setup but didn't know that was even a thing when I did it. I also added the 80# springs/retainers from ZZP and did a little "porting" mostly on the exhaust to match the gasket.

I have rev limiter set to 8k now but power kinda falls off over 7k. Guessing the factory s/c just isn't efficient at that point since the IAT's go up and timing is getting pulled.

I have the solid engine mounts and neutral balance shafts and there's considerable vibration at cold start and smooths out as she warms up. It's probably the tune but I don't want to fiddle with it.

How often are you going to be 7-9k rpms realistically? If you're full boost by 3250 to 7250rpm that's a healthy powerband and the stock balance shafts should be fine. To Wes's point, the rest of your setup also needs to be considered.

The valve springs are probably more important in the grand scheme.

I'm contemplating a 3rd option from Built by Brad. This removes the balance shaft and adds a short chain to remove the gears for the balance shafts. Really only thinking about removing the shafts since I'm in there.

I go to redline often when driving mine. As I mentioned in my main question, I'm really just considering doing this because I'll be in the area of the shafts doing the timing chain and I'll be bored. Engine will be out doing other things and just looking to tinker. Valvetrain will be an upgrade one day.

I replied back a couple years ago, and I'll reply again. The vibration is noticeable. It's not severe, but can be annoying. Certain idle speeds and then certain harmonic frequencies are most affected.

If I was doing the timing chain again, I'd leave it all in. There's virtually no gain.

I'm been thinking of doing this as well, engine is being assembled. It's an LDK so can't really take her past 7400. Seen 7200 on the strip but that's it. Looking at doing Stage 2 cams since the motor is apart. From anyone's perspective since it's a daily/weekend street car, stock balance shafts and balancer fine? Or is neutral/delete and ATI the play?
