Tried that… it’s definitely coming from lower down. The metal flake worries me. I just noticed my black chain guide looks to be installed upside down

Finally got my engine put into my car and couldn’t get it to fire. It would crank just wouldn’t fire. I went through every ground and cleaned them. Go to start it and it now sputters and sounds like it’s going to pop off.

checked spark and the 2 cylinders on the passenger side are getting very good spark and the drive side 2 cylinders are getting spark but not very good spark like the passenger side two.
Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

the engine wants to start… I can feel it!
Didn't see any resolution to this issue. Did you manage to get the engine running? Having a very similar problem with my 2009 turbocharged LNF. Barely starts but has no power and sometimes shuts back off. Getting codes P2155 and 2146. All of my diagnostics has led to the PCM.

It’s very possible it’s a ground. My clump of ground wires on the back of my transmission. The little black wire was broken. If all the grounds were good, then I would check the crank sensor wires that would be below where the supercharger would sit. My little jumper wire was broke off, so I soldered it into the main harness.

Also found two of my injectors were bad. Definitely take the injectors out and try to start it to see how they’re spraying.

It sounds like a loose muffler baffle, but that wouldn't put metal flake in the engine.
It only take a few bolts to remove the muffler and see if the rattle is gone....

I definitely think it’s timing chain related. But all the chains are tight. The only thing I can think of is if this guide is upside down?

It would certainly appear that guide is upside down. I'm a little surprised it fits that way. Ref this timestamped video from Cloyes on the install of that guide:

I would note also the upper guide bolt is a highly failure prone factory part which is easily bulletproofed by this Dorman part: https://www.dormanproducts.com/pages/products/stories/timing-chain-guide-bolt.aspx

It would be easy enough to remove the upper plug and see what's going on with that guide, and assuming you don't have the Dorman part in there, flip that guide (assuming it's in good shape), put the upgraded part in, and see where that gets you.

Yes, I did all that. Replaced all the injectors, coils, cam and crank sensors, checked all the wires for continuity, checked all the grounds, checked the injector high and low supply voltage sides coming off the PCM. All those passed except the low voltage supply side coming off the PCM. This led me to believe a failure at the PCM I/O Low Side Drive Switches in the PCM. So I bought a new PCM from Flagship, and still have the exact same issue.
