V1 Engine cutting out

Just took my first quick little drive around the block and the engine cuts out under acceleration. It idles that way also, jumps rpm then back down then jumps up and then down...I thought maybe that was the stage 2 cams causing a rough idle. Now when driving it accelerates for a second then cuts out then back on then off...

Any ideas?

Has it been tuned at all? Mine had a nasty idle surge until I made a few tuning runs. Ok, more than a few, it took many, many tuning runs before it idled well. And, I also had to increase the idle speed a bit. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to idle slowly with 60# injectors.

I'm not sure what all you have done to the car, but if you did cams, I'm assuming you did other things well. The ECM can only adjust for so much before you have to start tuning things.

I found 1 hose routed wrong. It idles a bit better but haven't had a chance to test under load.

I did so many performance upgrades I'm guessing that has a little to do with it. I have a canned stage 2 tune on it now but I think I need to get HPtuners or something for fine tweaking.

Also, none of my guages are working. I'm using an OBD2 guage I got off Amazon to check RPM and coolant temp for now.

I'm also wondering if my cooling system is operating correctly. I haven't ran the engine for more than maybe 5-6 minutes but at that point my water temps were only about 100 and using a heat gun my block was about 200. Maybe I should let it idle for a while and see what happens. At what exterior temp for the block via heat gun should I end the experiment? I haven't heard the fan turn on yet.

You’ll need to feel all the hoses for hot and cold; engine side and radiator side. When everything is hot, then it’s purged. One side will be hotter than the other, but everything should be “hot” To touch.

Probably air. Since the hoses go up, down, forward, up, down, back, up and down engine (or something like that), there’s a ton of places to trap air. Trap enough air in the right places and you’ll stall the coolant.

with the engine cold, pull the hoses at the engine and check for coolant. Do the same at the top connection at the rad. If no coolant, pour some in, at that location. Start the car and squeeze the hoses to push air/coolant around. Bring rpm up for a bit, then down and pump hoses again. Do all this with the rad cap off. You’ll get all the air out. It just takes time.
