Fenix's Cobalt SS LSJ (Non goblin)

Rauq
Looking at all the chains offered on Rockauto, looks like some have 2 blue links and 1 yellow, or 1 blue and 2 gold, or 3 blue... I would be surprised if there's only one differently colored link in the whole chain. Any chance if you keep rotating it around you'll end up with a colored link (of any color) on both the intake and exhaust cams at one time? Again, with spark plugs out the motor's easy to spin as much as you need it to off the crank pulley bolt. We won't be able to be 100% sure timing is ok without pulling the front cover to see the crank sprocket, but it's possible to be 100% sure timing is off just from looking at the top end.

I find it interesting that your intake and exhaust cam sprockets are different. The intake cam sprocket looks GM and has a GM part number. Both Cloyes and Melling sell sprockets with holes only and without the triangle and diamond indicators. Suggests to me timing's been done, and I'd think it's much more likely that timing was installed a tooth off than that it jumped after install.

Sorry for the silence. Before I go digging into timing.. Im looking into replacing the wiring as far back as I can and the connector too. Maybe I pulled on it too hard or something when installing the transmission. I dont remember if I was hasty and left it connected or damaged it by pinching it between the trans and engine. The code specifically states its related to the performance of the sensor and I have multiple replacement sensors on hand and the diagnostics in the manual has me testing the wires. I'll be waiting till the 4th for it to arrive. The only physical thing wrong that I have seen is the car taking much longer to start with the sensor unplugged and thats fine for now. I am out of money and have no job currently. This car has turned into my daily driver so I cant really have it apart for long periods of time while im job hunting. That being said I do appreciate all the support you guys give. This mostly a status update right now and im not looking for more answers currently.

another status update. i bring good news. the replacement plug and wire arrived and i finished replacing that today. i took the car out for a 30 minute test drive twice with an hour rest between to see if any CELs pop up. the good news so far is that no CELs are showing up. yippie. also i got my old job back delivering pizzas and i start tomorrow.

it is with a heavy heart that i announce the passing of this car. the car is making loud rattling, higher temps, tons of white smoke and coughing up water. the camshaft position sensor is no longer working again as well. the failing transmission bearings (I assume its the bearings) are loud as ****. i dont have time nor money for this. i dont have time to part it out either or bother selling it. its 99% likely that ill be sending it to a scrapper. RIP.

While out delivering pizza I came across another supercharged cobalt owner and one thing led to another and I sold it off for 200 bucks basically giving it away along with the transmission i swapped out plus some other things i had laying around from taking apart my donor. Felt like it was a good idea to hand it over to someone that will use it instead of a scrapper.
