V1 Joe's 2009 F40 SS/TC #470

Dropped the frame off at APS powder coating today. Spent a couple of hours there talking to Moe about colors and finishes. We couldn't come up with a solution for a highlighter yellow, but did come up with something that is very close. Ended up going with Manta Green from Prismatics selection of coatings.

In the donor today. Its got an ugly misfire and a dirty MAF, unplug the MAF and it runs better, but not perfect Id still like to figure out the misfire before dismantling it. It does have GM Performance stickers and badging on the hood and rad support. Wonder if its tuned. Are these aftermarket sensors?

Bought that new radiator for $100 to run the engine one time to make sure I didnt end up the same situation that Tom Anderson was in. Engine came up to temp, got heat in the cabin.

Small wins.

I realize now that those sensors are in fact 3bar map sensors, which is pretty cool. Makes me wonder what kind of tune this car might have on it.
Another note. I was getting a code for "Boost sensor circuit A low". I had cleared it a couple times, but it kept coming back. I was sitting in the car looking at those 3bar sensors pictures and noticed that the one picture there was a broken nipple. I feel like this might be the cause of the code.

Physically damaged sensors are always suspect, never know what has happened to the sensing apparatus or electronics inside. If I envision a broken nipple then it may be 'leaking" boost or maybe something far worse?!?

I’m still curious if I will find anything damaged. Mine wasn’t like yours but it was already obvious the owner has hit something hard enough to damage the bash bar.
I’m also fighting sensors now as well. Buying genuine GM doesn’t make it cheap either.
Still awesome you got yours running it’s a step forward.

I wonder what "stage" this donor car has, like what GM performance parts it has on it. Factory air box, zzp front mount. My guess is some sort of tune.

Looks like different map sensors and a 290hp tune.

Oh man that puts you 120 above me!
Should be a riot!

Next step is to check on that smushed connector and see if that fixes my C.E.L.
THEN!... to cut the core support out and start rippin that motor out!

Its got 7/8 of a tank of year old gas. Guess its time to jump the relay and start filling up cans. Both of my vehicles run 93octane, so no use at my place. Guess I could always post it up on the Facebook, Im sure someone can use it.

I would hope it’s 93 especially running the stage tune, but you never know for sure.
Be carful jumping the relay terminals on the fuel pump. It easy to jump the wrong terminals and burn up a trace inside the fuse box,

I guess I could just drill a hole in the bottom of the tank and shove a fitting in the hole. Its not like im using the tank for anything besides the fuel pump assembly and filler neck.

Got out and about on the donor this weekend.

Removed the exhaust, brakes and rotors, intake, fuse box, side skirts, seats and some miscellaneous for sale. Ended up with $450 in my pocket and still have a set of TC seats to sell. I have potential buyers for the FMIC and full exhaust.

What does a TC catalytic converter go for lately?
