V1 Joe's 2009 F40 SS/TC #470

Probably already been discussed but you are going to have to data log this somehow.

The LNF wants to run off of the MAF. The only tuning available in HPT are MAF tables. And the LNF is very sensitive to MAF/intake changes.

Have you looked at the DTC’s?

Yes and the only thing I repeatedly see/saw is misfire codes.

So, with that, today I swapped out the brand new NGK coils packs for old stock coil packs and that solved my year plus long adventure chasing gremlins. It wasn't my bad PCV valve, it wasn't a boost leak like my tuner said.

Happy as I am to say one very large gremlin is gone, now I am hungry for a new fix. I want it to run better. It runs happily moving forward and abso-effin-lutely RIPS, but once it got heat soaked it became harder to drive low rpm and cruise.... bucking and loading up. This seems like it can be tuned out. Im going to try the very first tune the tuner sent me and start from square one.

I guess that just means that you can’t trust new parts no matter where you get them.
Who is the tuner and what experience does he have with the LNF and the E69 ECM?

So tonight we took the car out on the latest revision again after resetting disconnecting the battery for a reset and it was not happy. The car runs great when moving forward and under load, but normally and in town it is a temper tantrum on 4 wheels, bucking, misfiring and generally unwell. So we loaded in the original tune that was sent to me via ZZP, the canned "A" tune based on the mods that I have and its night and day, the car is sooooo happy. It drives like I expect a car to drive. It pulls itself out of low rpm situations, it spins to 5k (limited in the tune) happily and is just a pleasure.

I took a couple of logs of each of these situations and sent them in. I'm happy with the power that the car made on the latest revision, but much happier with a car that is civil all around. I'm hoping that Matt can either fix the tune that makes power or build on the civility of the original A tune.

Very interesting, I hope ZZP gets to the bottom of your issues. I have a little situation with my decision on who to use to retune. The previous 2 owners of my Goblin used ZZP. I have reached out to ZZP regarding my tune and they dont want to give me information on previous tunes. They want me to pay to start from scratch when the current tune is from them. I have read recently a couple issues with ZZP but who else can we use? Its like we stuck with ZZP for the experience with our platform.

Tony Lindemulder is a name I hear reverberate through the cobalt community over and over again when I someone posts asking about who to get a tune from.

Tuner Matt sent me a revision, E tune.
Says I still have a vacuum leak and fuel trims were way off, asked me where I bought he opel injectors from... ummm, you.

But this feels like familiar. Ive Scott on board to smoke test this thing, but Im at a loss on what else to check beforehand.
Time + smoke + weather = where I need to be

Yea not good, sorry your going through this. That's kind of what I dont want to deal with them. I also have bought everything from them. Like if you have tested everything for a leak and everything has come back negative. It has to be something else. Especially if it runs good with the original tune.

Finally got around to cutting off DFs poor attempt at an F40 rear trans mount on the tubular subframe and welded in the plates cut out for me by another F40 member here. Once I get it on a lift I'll finish the weldsand snap some pics.

Going to load up the chronologically ordered E tune this Saturday. Hopefully a 6k rpm limiter upgrade, still chasing that 7000rpm. The gears are so long in this F40, there's no room locally to really test this thing. I need to go somewhere out of town, like Mexico to really open up 3rd gear.

Biggest Cars and Coffee of the season is this Sunday at CocaCola Park in Allentown since Bethlehem Steel Stacks has construction going on all summer. So I want the tune loaded up, car, wheels cleaned up, bugs off of the windshield amd then its showtime. They offered me VIP last time, I declined, let's see if they do it again. Ill park it amongst the exotics for a few hours for some cool shots.

In a class the next two days, day dreaming about when I can drive it next.

Today... I have achieved 7,000rpm.
Today... I gave it a rip in Mexico.
Today... I was caught in the tri-state area car spotting group...

Check your wings, men! Almost lost mine today. I dont suspect foul play, but two bolts fell out of the carbon fiber and when I got to work the wing was just hanging, twisting the other upright and barely hanging on.
Nut and bolt check time.

The wing mounting holes are totally f*cked. It came off again on the way home even with locktite sitting all day (I know its 24hr cure time, but still). I got home by zip ties and straps that were brought to me.
I thought a cross trek was riding my butt, so I looked back and my wing was hanging off by the right upright again.
I dont suppose rivnuts work in carbon fiber? Epoxy? What do you guys think?
